 AS a technophobic newbie I originally joined this site on Jan29 this year. Having read through many blogs I was guided through how to link up to the progress tracker and amend/edit/add signature to my pofile YAY :like: But then of course it now looks as though I only started this wonderful new wol 2 days ago and have not achieved a thing  WELL I despair not!
Having picked up a copy of Kate Harrisons THE 5:2 diet book back in October 2013 for a mere £1.00 in prestine condition at my local charity shop.....Fed up with quick fix attempts and being stuck between a 14/16 and fed up with repeats of "label size doesn't matter-it's the fit ...

Messed up Monday. Felt really hungry and shaky mid morning so had toast and carried on with anything not stuck down. Sadly continued on Tuesday and today. Now feel too full and uncomfortable. Tomorrow is my next fast day and I am thinking of going back to breakfast and evening meal as I do not want a repeat of Monday. Am also thinking of trying alternate day fasting to try and get on track. Will have to give that a lot of thought. Am worried about coping tomorrow but will have to go for it. I had thought all was going well and am cross with myself for allowing myself to go backwards.

Breakfast done and looking forward to lunch! I was not particularly hungry when I woke. I did think of skipping breakfast but I am out all morning and thought it may be too much to go until lunch, I am human after all? Also the fast yesterday was harder and I do not want that repeated tomorrow.
Our new guests have settled in and are out exploring most days. We directed them to our local tourist office where they are very helpful and speak English. They were suitably impressed.
The chicken families are growing well. They are all out exploring the garden with very protective mummies. The ducks are settled with sitting on eggs and I hope to see some ducklings around the second week of July. That is wonderful to see, a duck marching across the garden with a row of fluffy ducklings waddling behind! She will take them to the pond after 36 hours as the water makes waterproofing oil to be released on the fluff. They are very comical when first on the pond as they tend to sink a bit. It all works...

So Monday is here again and I am starting my 2nd 5:2 week.
Over the weekend even if I had my race I gained quite a bit of weight as I predicted. Unfortunately it seems I overeat during my feed days and therefore the sacrifices during the 2 fast days have little impact. It is still true that I have lost 0.900g so far, but probably should have lost more given the level of activity done, especially on Saturday when I run 57.8Km. So today I started to really look at my TDEE and trying to understand what I really need to eat. I have checked various sites and even if you enter almost the same info (they all ask for the same info) the results are slightly different. What I don't get is since my days are not all the same, should I calculate my TDEE every day (well you do it once and have the 2 TDEE) and therefore eat based on that result or always eat my TDEE regardless of my type of day? I say so because when I enter a typical training day it tells me to eat between 2650 and 2750 calories, instead...

Other diets, or WOE, always seem to cause me to apologize to someone. Not that it should be anyone’s business what I eat or don’t.
My friends and neighbours like to eat and socialize. Last night is an example. About 16 friends were together for drinks and snacks. If I was doing a calorie count, I would take a little wine and a few veggies. I really enjoyed the dips, chips, wine, cookies. I will fast again on Monday.
If I was counting calories or another type of diet, I would be very careful about my choices at these gatherings. I would feel a little sorry for myself, turning down delicious snacks. My hostess and friends would be asking questions about why I was not eating. But 5:2 is no hassle, no questions.
