What's interesting, to me, was the Bod Pod technician's assumption that I must be carrying a lot of visceral fat - the much demonised 'toxic fat that strangles our internal organs' to adopt some of the current newspaper terminology around it.

But, the more refined analysis of the Dexa scan indicates that I have below average levels of visceral fat: I just have low muscle mass. So, the new Public Health TOFI bugbear should perhaps be further refined to recognise that some TOFIs have low muscle mass rather than high levels of the sort of visceral fat that's associated with metabolic disorders (e.g., diabetes II; CVD).

Today I had to go and say goodbye to my father, he died last week after suffering for 4 years with dementia/ alzimers, it makes the hunger pains seem easy to cope with! And hopefully worth it in the long run x

Tuna, beans and salad have never tasted so good! Must admit I was hanging out for dinner last night. Did force myself to eat slowly, take notice of what I was eating and so manged to stretch my meal out for 25 minutes. Have read it takes about 20 min for the brain to feel that you're full, or something like that. Anyway it worked :like: Was quite happy finishing off with a green tea.
New issue though, poor sleep, up repeatedly to pee! Not sure if not sleeping was getting me up more often, as in you're awake and might as well go the the toilet or vice versa, will monitor this reaction. Will check the forums to see if others experience this.

This morning, glorious breakfast, in fact I have thoroughly enjoyed my food all day! Even had a skinny latte, oh how I missed the caffeine yesterday!

Plan to fast again tomorrow, only day that I can see this week that will fit, still a bit apprehensive...

I am the person who nearly finished their homework, essay, report, project, redecorating the kitchen, weeding the flower beds. You name it, nearly is not a harbinger of success but a word of peril - don't count your chickens, many a slip 'twixt cup and lip etc etc. So I'm going nowhere near the Nearly There tent in case I temp fate. Keep calm and carry on.

Have weighed myself this morning after 8 days (3 fast days in those 8) and have lost 5.6lbs! I am really pleased with that loss. I know that is a beginner's blip and I can't expect to lose like that regularly but it is a good boost to start with. I also know from previous weight loss experience that I am likely to fluctuate around my new weight for a couple of weeks, up and couple of lbs and then down again, before I lose my next chunk. So I'm not going to weigh myself too often, probably not even once a week. I'll try and hang on until end of January as I'm then more likely to see another big loss.

Even more pleasing however than the large weight loss is that I'm finding this so easy. I hope this isn't beginner's blip as I really haven't found fasting a struggle at all. I think I may get bored with vegetable soup every fast day so will start finding some other recipes. I like having breakfast and as I'm quite active I don't want to go for really long periods with no food at all. So I...
