The fast worked a treat. This morning I'm in ketosis - hooray! So no excuse not to stay low carb now. I did end up eating 426 calories yesterday as I did get hungry last night and ate a large boiled egg. So nutrient percentage wise it ended up as C18%/F50%/P32%.

So this morning I decided to prolong the fat burning by having a bulletproof coffee for breakfast. I have not had one for a couple of weeks. I dropped it once I fell off the low carb wagon as I did not want the combo of fat and sugar to cause weight gain. It felt like a lovely treat and I tried it with the nespresso capsule that has a hint of chocolate flavour to it, so it was nice and creamy.

Today I have bought food into work. It looks like this:
One young fresh coconut. I will eat the meat as well as the water.
WF Hawaiian pear and kale juice, unpasturised. Not sure about the cal and carb content of this as it doesn't say on the carton, so I have taken the nutritional content from something similar.
Slice of paleo...

Someone on another forum congratulated me on my "fantastic" weight today (weigh-in of 105lbs). And asked if I'm in weight-loss mode or maintenance.

I almost cried in frustration and it was difficult to put back a response that did not sound depressing. And I had to do this despite my belief that people need to know what to expect in maintenance (e.g., puppies, rainbows, and a smooth path for some; an initial smooth path of several months/years for others, following by stoicism and relentless vigilance).

105lbs is absurd but what I can manage. I would far rather weigh another 25lbs or more if the majority of that were lean body mass because it would make it so much easier to manage my health as I age. More skeletal muscle would give me some much needed metabolic flexibility and hugely reduce my risk of metabolic syndrome related disorders (CVD, diabetes II etc.).

I think if I dug out some of my clothes from before the accident - before this loss of muscle mass - they'd fit...

I walk my dog four or five, sometimes six or seven miles a day - it depends on the weather and the state of the tide (we live 300 yards from the beach). This morning, West Wales was cloudy, drizzly and altogether miserable and high tide was 3 hours away so we walked (well he ran) about six miles. I'm suffering from some kind of auto masochistic reflex, the worse the weather, the further I let him drag me. As he's a 16 month old Border Collie and therefore immune to wet, cold, pain, tiredness and the fact that "dad" has put the wrong shoes on (walking more than a few hundred yards in wellies is a bad idea!), by the time we got home I was ready for some breakfast.

Once again, the toaster cranked out a couple of rounds of crunchy malty loveliness and I covered them in butter and ginger preserve. Once again, "the diet" didn't start today. So I'm going to give this a go from tomorrow.

Despite the walking (I don't drive), I'm sixteen and a half stone and I want to be twelve...

and now it is 2 months since I last posted my weight- I do feel bad about it but am glad to say that I am back on track and about a pound less than in august- not much but it could have been so much worse!!! We have had visitors, stomach bugs etc and we are still here- last week we tried the 4:3 and doing the same this week as the results were great and I am hoping for similar this week.
Next week we are off for a week but have already planned our fast days so it all fits in- target till end of january- which will be a year of doing 5:2- to loose another stone. A present to myself!!!
can't wait to update the progress tracker on saturday!!!
