Well, I've been on 'maintenance' for 7 weeks now and my weight has been fluctuating a little. I've stuck rigidly to a full fast every Monday, and added a half fast on another day (so no food until the evening on another day in the week). One weekend my weight went up to 59kgs so I did 2 full fasts and paid more attention to what I ate on non fast days and this morning I was at 57.3kgs, not after a fast day and I know I've definitely lost a few pounds over the last 10 days.
I've started using a weight tracker on my iphone but if my weight creeps up I'll just do a full 5:2 week to get it down again. Once you are used to fast days they are so easy to do and this WOE has made it really easy to control my weight. I still eat and drink everything I want to (I'm lucky in that I've never eaten or craved junk food) and a BMI of around 19 - 19.5 is perfect for me. Below 19 and I'm too thin. This week I had a Twitter conversation with Mimi Spencer who confirmed the same. She originally went down to...

I  5:2

I'm 54.9 kg as of this morning. Thrilled to bits. I've lost 19.7% of my body weight and am now healthy on all measurements. I'm still aiming to replace more of my body fat with muscle and need to firm up the flab round my middle. I will allow up to 2kg more weight loss as a buffer zone, but I'm happy with my size now

Thank you Dr Michael Mosley!

Here goes.

It's been a very up-and-down year since I started 5:2ing last May. I thought my 'fastiversary' would come by and I'd be a stone lighter and infinitely happier, but alas my low boredom threshold and hectic home/uni lifestyle split has meant I haven't stuck with fasting for longer than about 3 months at a time. I'd like to change that now.

My original SW was 9st 11lbs, which utterly terrified and disgusted me. I am short, but very curvy, and every pound makes a difference when you have a small torso. My legs are quite long and no worry at all, but I put on weight all over because of my hourglass frame. I stepped on the scales this morning and I was 9st 12.5lbs. At my worst (now), I measure approximately 41-29-39. At my best, I've measured around 38-27.5-37.5. I'd like to get there again. But these are all just numbers, really, and what's more important is the way I feel about myself.

I know that the most important part of any lifestyle choice is to not beat yourself up if you...

Ok so today I had my meals planned

Day 2 fast day (Wednesday 15th may)
Breakfast-1 wheatabix (65) cherry mullerlight yoghurt (88) 100g frozen summer fruits (33)=182 cals

Lunch-frijoles charros 58 cals

Dinner-Asda 300g vegetable medley (86) 50g brown rice (60) linda mcartney rosemary and onion sausage (64)= 208 cals

Well here was me thinking it was going to be as easy as the last one, boy was I wrong don't get me wrong it wasn't sticking to the 500 cals that was the hard part it was because tonight was my slimming world weigh in night, and my ritual before weighing in is stop eating at 2.30pm and stop drinking at 4.30pm. My weigh in is at 7.30pm.

Breakfast went well and was tasty and filled me up all the way until lunch at 2 so I started cooking it at 1, then read the recipe for frijoles charros took 3 hours to cook so I knew it wouldn't be ready until after I stopped eating so instead of having that I swapped the brown rice and charros around so I had my brown rice for lunch with...

I was working at a craft market today and because I'm going out tomorrow, decided to try today as my first time fasting away from home.

Of course, as it was at the local CWA hall I was tempted all day by the home made cakes and pies that the ladies had made, but I managed to say to myself "tomorrow you can eat what you want". I bought four little cup cakes on the strength of that promise and they're sitting in the fridge with beautiful icing waiting to be eaten and shared with my friend tomorrow.

I did have a flat white coffee in a cup and a couple pieces of fruit, plus a home made garden salad with just lime juice on it, but I have used a fair amount of my calories on all of that.

So tonight as I'm writing this, I'm just about to sit down to home made celery soup with a couple slices of Aldi ham sliced up in it, which brings me to my total 500 calories.

My family's eating home...
