Am very excited to be starting this new way of eating  not only because of the weight loss aspect, but the longer term health benefits too. I didn't see the Horizon programme (darn!) but a very good friend of mine has lost 2 stone following the 5:2 protocol and she looks amazeballs! :victory:

I've had a bit of a dodgy past with food. I had poor body image, starting during my early teens, when I was self-conscious about my height as I was tall for my age, but then as one of the first girls in my year to develop hips and boobs I became very dysmorphic. From the age of 15, I suffered from an eating disorder, with the worst peak around the age of 18.

At the age of 23 I was lucky to have met (and since married) a fantastic man who has enormously helped me with my own body image. Whilst I've gained...

Day two of 'eat days' and enjoying having what I want , a glass wine , crisps, bit of this and a bit of that . Interesting that I know hardly anything about calories I haven't looked at calories since the 80's ! Due in part to weight watchers and sliming world, I know, points and sins ( a name that always bugged me ) and free food . so a bit of a learning curve on this, but it's still not rocket science, pizza high , apple low..... Hardly taxing ... On a side note do rocket scientists say oh its hardly a diet when they have to do difficult stuff
Although I am indulging a little generally eating much more 'mindfully' and I don't actually want so much rubbish food, and normal, portions are leaving me stuffed, not mooching about the kitchen randomly opening cupboards and the fridge on the hunt for more
Plus from thur last to today, which is 2 fasts I have lost 2 lb which is a bag,of sugar...

I enjoyed my days over the weekend' having a few glasses of wine, much less than normal I add, a BBq and such, the weather has been fabulous. I seemed to make sub conscious choices to limit my intake of food' and wine. A good point. Not sure I felt fully oh' I have a week end if you know what I mean. :?:

My Daughter {16} flew back to the UK on Monday, always hard for me and my Inlaws arrived even harder !!! I've stuck very well to the eating plan, but found it tough on the old emotions and stress levels, normally I would reach for food or the nearest wine glass. So although I've got through it I don't feel ecstatic. I know this will change just under alot of pressure too many people under one roof at the moment and trying to keep everyone happy !!

Anyway enough of all the moaning..The upside...

15 weeks and 24 pounds

I'm at the end of my 15th week doing 5:2 and I've been reflecting and doing some number crunching so thought it was a good time to record a bit more detail on my journey.

REDHEAD
I've never been hugely overweight, but at the start of this year I was tipping the overweight BMI category and really felt heavy after slowly putting on about 2 stone in the last 5-10 years (I'm in my mid 30s). I was nearly 12 stone at the start of the year and about 5ft 8. I certainly felt big and had difficulty finding clothes that looked nice.

I was up and down in weight during the last 10 years - losing a bit, putting a bit on and so on. But I've never dieted (couldn't ever stick to anything - I have terrible willpower) so my weight was never in my control. I only lost when I was busy at work or whatever. Not because I made a conscious, controlled choice.

I discovered the Eat Fast Live Longer programme and book in January and decided to give it a go. I often skipped breakfast...

Curiouser and curiouser, 2 lbs down this week which puts my Fast-5 average back to 1 lb per week and this is despite the following factors:

1. I have not increased my exercise, in fact rather the opposite as I am a fair-weather walker. I started doing 4 x 30 second sprints but only did it on 2 days out of my planned 3. I do strength exercises on 3 days a week but not in one session, I do them between chores or book chapters.

2. I overate on Friday and was not hungry when my window opened on Saturday but started eating anyway. Although I did 36 hour water fasts sometimes on 5:2 I'm a bit scared of going too long without eating if I am fasting every day. If this happens again, I will hold off until I either feel hungry or the end of the window approaches, and have a large omelette and salad.

3. No progress on going without pastry for a week!

Fast-5 works!
