Well, to be honest, I forgot I started this blog. So my last entry was quite a while ago. So I will do an update here...

weight this morning 244.6 after a non-fasting day yesterday, today is also a non-fasting day.

I do a 4:3 now, I found that more than 2 days of non-fasting and I lost my head. So I now do Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday as my fasting days. These work well because it is easier for me to fast on days that I go to work, and I am only working Tues, Wed, and Thurs now.

Today, my daughter, my husband, and I are off in search of a nice hummingbird feeder. The other day when I was working in the garden a hummingbird came within 3 feet of where I was working to feed on a flower and that has inspired today's activity. My son is off with friends to the lake, so he misses out on the activity, I doubt he cares!

I had blood tests done last Monday. Has been years (about seven I believe!) since last time so was long overdue I guess. I had thought to wait until I'm at my target weight in another couple of months but had to see my GP about something else and she persuaded me. She was very impressed by my weight loss and asked me how I did it; I told her I'm doing 5:2 and she commented she has other patients doing it too and seemed quite positive about it which was great.

Anyway, went back yesterday to hear the results. Can't say I was really surprised to hear that my cholesterol was high, 7.5 (has always been a bit of an issue for me the same as it was for my Mum). Triglycerides were 2.5 and HDL 1.27, so no good news there at all. : ( The doc and I agreed that I would try and increase my good cholesterol with some dietary changes and taking fish oil, and get re-tested later in the year. I was also found to be badly deficient in vitamin D which is apparently the case with a lot of Australians, ironically....

So, first fast day today. Just calculated my BMI, 43 !!! Oh no, how I dream to be just plain overweight! According to the charts I should be about 7 ft tall!

I have breastfed my little one for 2 years and no weight loss, so not fair! My husband even asked if she had been blowing instead of sucking, cheeky devil!!

Few useful hints on the forums already, I look forward to talking to more people here.

Egg and a bit of toast for breakfast, drinking lots of water. The challenge now is to feed my 2 year old daughter without pecking at her left overs, most of my eating seems to be without thinking!

I'm working the night shift tonight (I'm a nurse), but it's busy so I think that will help, reserved a few cals for my break then back to normal in the morning.

When I started this WOL, my carb intake was very high as I was eating a lot of bread (albeit wholemeal bread), potatoes, pasta and rice. Since starting this WOL, I have cut out those things and tried to go by a diet which is lower in carbs than what I was eating before. With that in place, I was then ready to bring my protein intake down a bit whilst increasing my fat intake (especially saturated fats) or so I thought.

However, there has been a few comments in this forum today in response to another thread which I started earlier on today, and I have found those comments rather depressing to the point that I'm still feeling a bit upset by them. The reason for that is because a number of people have commented that my current carb intake is still not low enough for that to be considered as a low carb diet. To me, that is just making me feel as though I have failed in terms of trying to achieve my goal of a low carb diet and am now incapable of achieving that goal.

It must be remembered...
