Since my last blog, I got my saliva test results back. I had wanted to better understand what might be contributing to my slow rate of loss. I have been on another forum where they were following the kind of IF protocol I had been on for the month. We had all pretty much started together. People were losing 7 to 10lbs. My loss was 1lb. It was making me sad and frustrated.
My tests showed that my cortisol was on the low end - a sign of adrenal exhaustion which is hardly surprising given the year I have had. My DHEA-S was slightly high which is unusual in this combination. Whilst a strong DHEA-S score is great when you are very young, in could be signs of insulin resistance in someone older. So it was such a contradiction I just did not know what to do for the best.
So I stopped fasting, gave up caffeine and gave up being low carb. I wanted to reduce the stress on my adrenals before I started to have major problems. I have also been taking an adrenal support formula. I felt better...

Have weighed myself this morning after 8 days (3 fast days in those 8) and have lost 5.6lbs! I am really pleased with that loss. I know that is a beginner's blip and I can't expect to lose like that regularly but it is a good boost to start with. I also know from previous weight loss experience that I am likely to fluctuate around my new weight for a couple of weeks, up and couple of lbs and then down again, before I lose my next chunk. So I'm not going to weigh myself too often, probably not even once a week. I'll try and hang on until end of January as I'm then more likely to see another big loss.

Even more pleasing however than the large weight loss is that I'm finding this so easy. I hope this isn't beginner's blip as I really haven't found fasting a struggle at all. I think I may get bored with vegetable soup every fast day so will start finding some other recipes. I like having breakfast and as I'm quite active I don't want to go for really long periods with no food at all. So I...

Hi there,

I am new to this site, but been doing the 5:2 for three weeks, just embarking on my fourth week. I was really please and had lost 5lb however hopping on the scales this morning shows a gain of 5lb plus an extra 1pound!!! How can that be...I was so disappointed and I have done nothing different this last week. So I have moved my fast day to tomorrow when I am in a better frame of mind. I am so desperate to loose the weight and don't know where I am going wrong. I though I had cracked it but obviously not!!! please help......

Got a lovely compliment from one of my co-workers today about how trim I was looking. It was nice because I was beginning to think that no one was noticing. I'm glad to see that someone else can see the changes that are happening.

I hit a new low number today, bringing my total loss to 14.5 pounds now. Yeah! Only a few more to go till I hit my interim goal weight of 209 pounds. I picked that number because it was the lowest number I saw in 2012 (while doing WW the last time). Once I get past that number I'll entering new territory on the scale for the first time in a long time. And I'm really excited about that.

Today I had a lovely lunch with a friend who is off on sick leave after knee surgery. I brought lunch (quiche, salad, and pumpkin pie) and we had a nice visit. Currently I'm at home and had been considering finishing off the last few cookies but stopped myself when I realized that I wasn't hungry. What an empowering decision to really stop, think about it, and then...

Weight: 8st 12 lbs

Hello everyone, I decided to start a blog to keep me focussed and provide inspiration if I become successful. I have been on and off with 5:2. I have had success. I am 5 foot and quite petite. I currently weight 8st 12 and would like to get to 8st 2 or even lower. I have managed to hit 8st4lbs on this diet but fell off the band wagon. I'm just back from 10days hols so right back where I was when I started on this diet. I'm hoping it will come off quickly though.

Primarily I thought I would actually record what I am eating and the exercise I am putting in. My TDEE is 1800 which is quite high. The reason being that I am running 5 times a week for a marathon in 6 weeks. Otherwise my TDEE is a wofal 1400cals pd which is very low. I am sticking to 500 cals twice a week Monday & Wednesdays. Tues, Thurs & Fri I am doing a 16:8 of eating between 12-8pm.

So today is day 1 since hols. I have to say I'm pretty depressed at the thoughts of the day ahead. I have been...
