Living in Switzerland is a wonderful. The lifestyle, culture and natural beauty is a joy. The four distinct seasons add to that wonderment, but this past winter has decided to impinge on spring time....in other words, winter has outstayed it's welcome. Now. Never really one who in the past thought nothing more that being curled up with a Shiraz a comfy chair and a log fire , I am now of a completely different opinion. And why? Because of the positive results of 5:2. Having dropped over 10% of unwanted body weight ( and there is more to go), I have these uncontrollable urges to get into the nature and reconnect with an old friend...hiking and mountain walking (we have a few of those here).

I have been pretty good at sticking to Monday and Thursday fast days, and really enjoy the strange feeling of freedom that they give. I know freedom is a strange way of describing the sensation, but to me it feels like that. Free to take charge of the fasting day, and free to really enjoy non-...

First of all, update on soup making, the chicken and leek soup is ah.maz.ing! Even though I did have to cut the recipe by 1/3 since my casserole pot doesn't take 6 cups (1400 ml in English) of stock it seems, after cutting up enough leeks, carrots and celery for 6 cups worth of stock! :doh: but still, after faffing and sorting, it was so nice!

And now on to my damned feet! Yesterday went out with my mum and sis for a wander-bout/shopping trip, after 5 hours of walking around in heels, not very high ones, and not stilettos (seriously, how can people wear them?!) my feet killed, lol, did burn off roughly 900 calories though, so it was worth it in one way!

Going to do more damage to then today though, in a worthy cause, a protest march due to our local maternity unit being shut without any pre-warning, (much longer story to it, but it'll take me an age to type that all out!) so going along with Sofia to...

I'm back to the forum, thanks to emails from Moogie, encouraged by all the recent posts. My weight yesterday (first fast day) was 9st 9.4lbs, so not (quite) back to square one. I succeeded in the Easter Challenge, then had very bad family news and Real Life got in the way for a few months. Things are getting a bit easier and I have a Caribbean holiday booked next spring. SO, I am aiming for 16 pounds loss (I'm only 5' tall) in 22 weeks before that. I know this works and I CAN DO IT!! :island:

My story 50 weeks on::
This time last year I hadn't even heard of 5:2 I must have been in hibernation because I saw no publicity and missed the horizon programme, then read a comment in
Mimi Spencer's weekly column about her writing a book with Dr M and although I'd just reached the point of giving up on the weightloss game having just had a complete clear out of my smaller clothing and footwear.
I sent for the book and got started right away jumped in with 3 days not even knowing 4:3 existed because I found it so easy and thought I can do this something "clicked " straight away and I knew this is the one!!!
I also restarted my walking just small walks to begin with then later building the length up as I travelled through the summer months.
After a couple of weeks I found this forum
full of (mostly) lovely people kind, helpful, friendly and very informative I've learned so much from this forum which has provided me with the backbone to my weightloss journey.
Shorter version...

I feel hopeful as if this way of eating is something I just might adopt as a way of life. I've tried many diets - WW, counting calories, low fat, low carb, grapefruit and egg - even Fast 5 for 7 months.Lost 12 pounds on that but gained it all back once I stopped. Fasting every day was not working for me even though I lost weight. I couldn't keep up the lifestyle. This type of fasting seems more doable. I'm prepared for slow weight loss even though I'm sure I'll have quick drop in the beginning. I'm very glad for all the helpful tips in the forum. I'm going to give this my best shot.
