Well here we go. Day 1. Feeling extremely positive and excited  . Very tired as I didn't sleep much last night. Was so excited about starting my new life. My plan today is to have 2 meals leaving the first until early afternoon and then dinner tonight with my other half. Going to have chicken fajitas tonight minus the wraps ie a chicken stir fry. Have done lighter life before so know what it is like to live on 500 calories. This time only need to do 1 day at a time.looking forward to not worrying about what I eat. I have been trying to lose weight for about 20 years. Tried every diet there is. Lighter life was great. I lost about 5 stone but it piled straight back on. Started my latest effort at the beginning of the year, hoping to lose 4 stone in time for my daughter's wedding in September. I have lost about a stone but hate counting all the time.

This is day 1 of the 5:2 eating and also day 1 fast.

I've chosen an Aussie public holiday to start since watching the documentary a few days ago. I needed to get my head around how I'd approach the first fasting day and also wanted to do it on a day when I wasn't at work, as I didn't want to draw attention to doing anything differently. Let's not go into past historical reasons for this - suffice it to say, at this vulnerable stage of my new eating plan, I don't want any 'smart' comments coming my way!

Actually as I type this, it's 10.56am and my tummy's rumbling. So I am feeling hungry, which is something that I usually avoid by eating big meals and also grazing through the day. No wonder I'm overweight!

After reading comments on this forum (yes I lurked for an hour or so before posting), if you can get your head around the fact that the hunger sensations don't build to extreme discomfort and also that they come in waves, then they're manageable.

I have to admit, I'd rather be...

After a PB on Friday morning clocking at 75.6kg, the last 3 days have seen just an incredible upward trend that has brought me to 77.6kg.
I am so glad today I am fasting because I really can't see the weight going up anymore. As I wrote in a post I didn't overdue on these past days, but I am just going up and up and up. I know that eysterday for sure I had food that exceeded my TDEE and I am aware of this, but I gained too much weight in just 3 days. An explanation coming form the post is that my training has as a consequence water retention and therefore weight gain and after a 12k run on Friday yesterday I went for my long run covering 35km and therefore this could be a reason. Thinking about it closely I cannot really say that this is the real reason. I would take it into consideration if I were an occasional runner, but I do sport, and quite consitently, for long time each time I go out running and therefore shouldn't see this kind of variations. I am a bit confused and I hope to get...

Just when you think things couldn't get any better....they go and get better!

I don't pretend to understand the ins & outs....but I jumped on the scales on Monday last....and found to my absolute delight that I was down 4.8lbs!!! Woo Hoo and all that!! This brings my total to 26lbs in 6 weeks. Only need to ditch 2 more pounds & that's 2 stone gone! Unbelievable....

Tomorrow is my Week 7 weigh in! It's been a busy week, so I thought I'd better catch up quick before coming back tomorrow. All fingers are heavily crossed...needless to say. I haven't wavered by so much as a quaver all week, but who knows whether the fickle scales will take any of that into account.....
