Read Michaels book, saw him on BBC and started diet this week.. Hoping it becomes a lifestyle for me. love reading all your blog.
QA; starting with 5:2 Can I fast from 8pm to 8pm on my fast day?Either with 500 c or maybe without. Then on my feast day start with dinner at 8pm and roll over to my feast day the next day. I have read all blogs about times and fasting ;either fast day all day through bedtime or feast day through bed time. Is there an advantage to the 24 hr fast I propose cause you go through night and completely through next day till dinner at 8..

For those of you planing on your diet, here is a handy BMR calculator that will calculate your daily calorie needs. It also has an option to select activity level to better approximate your daily caloric requirements.

Such tools are by design inaccurate (using a static formula) but are a good approximation nevertheless.
Here's how you can find out your accurate BMR rate.

Calculate your BMR (by the way, BMR stands for basal metabolic rate) using a BMR calculator. Take the number and write it down. For the next 5 days eat at that rate and see if you are losing weight. If you are losing weight than that means that BMR calculator produced quite an accurate number.

If you are NOT losing weight that means that your BMR is probably lower and that BMR calculator did not calculate near approximate value.

Because when it comes to weight loss it really isn't that complicated....

Last Thursday was my weigh in day.It was a morning after a feed day. I was excited because I lost a pound in one week. It gave me a boost to continue with this WOL. Today is now my fourth fast day. I'm continuing to fast throughout the day and save my 500 calories for dinner. It's getting a little easier. 2-4pm is the hardest time for me. I drink a ton of water and tea through those hours. One thing that seems to be happening after every fast day is my stomach gets a bit sore after I eat my first meal. Not sure why that's happening. Anyone else have issues like that?

As I end my 9th week of this WOE, I find myself attempting to re-assess my goals and how to achieve them.

My weight loss has begun slowing (having lost only 1.2 lbs in the past three weeks), and while I'm sure I can blame it on a bunch of things (overeating, eating the wrong kinds of things, constipation, hormones), it's normal with any weight loss program to slow down a bit. Now I must begin to practice patience.

As I'll be joining the Christmas 8-week challenge (10/30/2017-12/24/2017), I want to shift my mindset from weight loss to making sure I'm very clearly holding to the healthy habits that support that weight loss (both ones that I've already been practising and new ones).

LET ME BE CLEAR, I WANT VERY MUCH TO CONTINUE LOSING WEIGHT, AND QUICKLY AT THAT, BUT I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHAT WEIGHT MY BODY IS AT ON ANY GIVEN DAY OR WEEK. I ONLY HAVE CONTROL OVER WHAT I DO. SO I AM GOING TO FOCUS ON THAT. WHAT CAN I DO?

Continuing Goals:...

I have been thinking about hunger, as I do 5:2 WOE. Why do I fear it? What have I done in the past to avoid it. Why am I embracing I now?
Hunger is not such a bad feeling. I dislike being cold or tired much worse. I can put hunger off and not think about it. Other feelings are more intense and last longer.
Fear or avoidance of hunger could be a feeling from being a child. My mother and grandmother made sure I well fed. Likewise I fed my children well, making sure they were not hungry.
No one is going to starve in a day or twice a week of having little food.
Food cravings are more intense for me than hunger. I think of the two as completely different. My cravings are for sugar and/or chocolate. Hunger does not need those, but real food.
I see my hunger as a means to an end. Healthy weight. Looking better.
Today I will have my 500 calories and really enjoy them. Veggies and salmon for supper and eggs and more veggies for a mid-day meal. I will enjoy my hot red tea and cold water....
