We got through yesterday and now I know what hungry feels like. Enjoyed eggs and tomatoes on sour dough toast for breakfast and then OH and I had coffee and cake in Devonport. We'd gone out yesterday to distract ourselves and drooled as we walked past the cake shop. Now I don't want lunch. OH is having lunch, but he had a smaller cake. I had the biggest one- a fruit tart. My eyes are a little better - we'll, my glasses have been adjusted. My son and His girlfriend are scathing about our new strategy and say it will result in weight gain and bad heart health. We thank th for their concern.

I have been doing weight watchers for over a year (on and off) and find it's getting really tedious. I started 5:2 diet last week. I fasted Friday and Saturday successfully and lost 2 lbs. I decided to change my fast days to Tuesdays and Thursdays from now on. Yesterday (being Monday the day before my fast day) I ate really irresponsibly. I felt out of control. I think it was because of the anticipation of my fasting today. I have not weighed myself for my fear that I gained the weight back. Should I still do weight watchers on my feast days to control myself?

Today is my 2nd ever fast day. I did one on Monday and found it ok. Today I've had 2 hard boiled eggs for breakfast before going to Pilates. I'm drinking black tea with lemon which is surprisingly nice. Off to the greengrocers in a minute to buy some onions and celery to make a pot of soup for this evening. Feeling ok at the moment, hunger comes in waves but then recedes which is good. I certainly feel different about being hungry. Normally I would see it as a sign I really needed to eat and would rush off to find something, anything, to get that full feeling back again. However on Monday and today I am beginning to recognise hunger as a normal thing and one I don't have to panic about.

Off to buy, weigh and cook onions and celery! Plus an apple to take me up to 500 calories.

And thanks to everyone who has welcomed me, and those who have commented on this blog. I'm writing it to keep a record for myself of what this feels like but it's nice to know other people are reading it. ...

I started the 5:2 diet two weeks ago and have been really enjoying the process. Like most of you I crap on about it to everyone :) I was chatting to the owner of the gym I go to who is also a power lifter (for those of you who don't know what that is, it is a man who lifts incredible amounts of weight for fun...... Not my cup of tea but he does have a body like superman!)
He didn't like the sound of the diet as he was concerned I would loose too much muscle during the process. I do high intensity kettle bell training 3 times a week for 20 mins a session. He asked if he could record my progress and do ongoing strength and fitness tests to see how I went. I was thrilled of course as I love a challenge and also the opportunity to track fitness results as well as blood tests and weight.
I am off to do my fitness test on Friday.... Wish me luck.
Cheers
