I'm completely new to all this. My practice nurse advised me to try this diet. I wanted to try it in March but my GP said just stick to counting calories. Tedious and inflexible, however I lost 11 pounds since January. I want to lose a bit faster and have all the health benefits of fasting so here I am! Had a breakfast of 30g porridge and dried fruit a cup of tea and now sipping sparkling water. Might have a few herbal teas during the day.

Will this work? I'm pretty sick of diets, this seems intuitively more flexible and *natural* religious types have been fasting for centuries, and I'm sure the caveman didn't and wasn't able to have 3 square meals a day. I think it will be nice to just give my body a rest from food rather than shoveling it in every day. Will report back at the end of the day with more thoughts. Over and out.

Current Actual Weight: 72.3kg (11 stone 5 pounds)
Current Trend Weight: 72.8kg (11 stone 6 pounds)

When I got up yesterday morning, it wasn't as frosty as what it was on the previous day, but there was a cold wind blowing to make it equally important that I stock up on hot, low carb snacks. Consequently, I continued with my break from 16:8 and ate the same breakfast as yesterday (please read yesterday's blog entry for details of that) except that I had replaced yesterday's scrambled eggs with two poached eggs.

Another big difference from the previous day, was that I had a gym session which means that I was going to be burning more calories. That made me feel confident that I would be able to avoid the same weight gain as what I showed yesterday, even if I were to eat the same diet. I have another android app installed which helps me to log my cardio results and with that, I have set a target for burning 1,000 calories over my two gym sessions on Sundays and Wednesday (this app counts...

As much as my head would like to see a number like 145 on the scale, 151-152 seems to be where where it has settled for awhile! My husband has put about 15 pounds back on over the winter, but as a cattle feeder having to get out early on cold winter mornings and break ice and work cattle, more calories got to be important! With warmer temps he is once again trying to do 2 fast days with me! Our drought and terrible dust storms have made walking nearly impossible some days so i am happy to be where I am! Threw away my fat summer clothes this week as I have gone from a size 14 to an 8. Kept a couple size 12 I had bought in triumph last summer! They will hopefully serve as my reminder that I was even larger than that! Bloodwork and pressure improved also. keeping good health habits remains my top priority as I have the reminder of long term effects of type two diabetes in my dad as he now battles kidney failure. Needing new clothes that fit is a very nice perk to the new lifestyle. I never...

Week 3... This doesn't seem too difficult to fit into my routine, and honestly I don't find the fast days too difficult, so let's be patient and see what happens over the next 6 months

I haven't done as much exercise as I would have liked, so that's got to change over the coming weeks, but I have defiantly started eating less on my normal days... I've started with my graze boxes for lunch at work, so I fast on a Monday, have a light graze box on Tuesday, fast day Wednesday, and a regular box on Thursday.... Fridays I work from home so I eat whatever, if I remember!

At least doing it this way, I know I'm eating the right foods and can space them out as and when during the day  let's just hope it all adds up!

Well I did it, completed my first week with two fast days (Monday and Thursday) and I am happy to say I am 2 pounds lighter for my efforts. What a fab week, don't feel as though it was a struggle, as it was actually quite easy, and today is another fast day which I am handling so far so good. I know I am having homemade chili this evening with a couple of tortilla chips on the side, no rice or cheese, so had small amount of homemade yogurt with strawberries and blueberries and a wee drizzle of Agave Nectar. I have had loads of water and tea and one cup of coffee so far. I am looking forward to my chili this evening and have had a few tummy rumbles this afternoon but nothing that is worrying. I can and will do this correctly this time, my head is in the right place.
