Am I alone in feeling disappointment in seeing advertising for the 5:2 supplement on this site? Having started this journey with the purest of intentions, those being to change lifestyle to one which is measured, balanced and natural, I am now being pitched a powder to replace a healthy eating program.

If not, then maybe we should purchase a whole 7 day program in a box!!!! Oops that is already available from those so called diet companies that thrive on repeated failures to generate income.

Oh well. Maybe I am off the mark here, but would be interested to hear from others as to what they think.

I haven't lost much weight so far, maybe 1.5 pounds is all. I am finding the fasts easy to do. What I like most is that I have a plan in place and I trust that I will be able to stick with it for the long haul. I am enjoying foods on feast days much more because I now can eat them without guilt. The fast days have made me realize that what my Mother told me isn't true. Nothing bad will happen if I skip a meal. Breakfast isn't the most important meal of the day. The meals I skip are the most important meals to me right now. Drinking lots of water really is the key to skipping a meal.

I'm excited for a vacation I have coming up in November, 4 days at Disney World, I should have lost several pounds by then. My summer clothes should fit much better.

My Twin Sister is doing this 5:2 with me as is a friend at work. Having a 5:2 buddy has helped alot. Peace out ~Rana 8-)

I am at the end of Week 3 of my return to fasting. I eased myself in gently on Wk 1 with a two day fast. After months away (& very much out of control food-wise, hence the 2 stone gain  ) I was amazed at how easily the habit came back. When I left fasting, I had got to the point where I could go all day without food & only eat at dinnertime. It was not a hard slog, it was just what I did. I was even at the point where I only ate around 300 cals per day (a fresh Waitrose soup) and didn't feel deprived. Am pleased to report that it all came flooding back....and Wk 1 went very well on the fasting days....though not so well on the other 5! Cue massive snacking & scoffing...comfort eating for the world! Net result was a whole 1lb loss - which even I knew I didn't deserve....given all the naughtiness! Thank you very much.....I'll take that!

At the end of Wk 1 something...

Well, I told myself if I made it to this point, I'd see if it was worth staying on and doing. It is. :like:
12 weeks in, 11.8# down. Couple of points down on the BMI. Needing a belt and moving to the 4th notch from the first. Better blood glucose readings, more energy and I'm wearing some clothes that were just a bit tight at Thanksgiving (Nov 2013). As much as I kept saying I liked it, it was great, I didn't really believe it would work for me, in my heart of hearts, I figured it would be another in a string of "try it diets" that would leave me too hungry, too deprived, too frustrated to continue. I'm not there, so I'll give it another 12 weeks - one week at a time, two fasts a week - and see how it goes, I'm thinking it will go well - if all of you are evidence of what I have to...
