I've been overweight most of my life, and since having my kids I've put on more wight than before. At my heaviest I was 13kg heavier than I am at the moment. But I lose weight, then put it back on too easily. When I saw someone I used to work with years ago who said I hadn't changed, my reply was "Just 25 years older and 25kg heavier".
Anyway, 8 weeks ago I watched the TV show which set me on this path. Hubby is doing this with me, and it was his idea to give it a go. He doesn't really need to lose weight, but says it's for the medical benefits.
So we started at the end of April - this is week 8. The scales are kinder some weeks than others - this week it was only a 200g weight loss, but at least its not a gain.
It's winter here in Australia and I've always found it harder to diet in Winter - need warm and filling meals - so to have lost 5kg in just over 7 weeks is amazing!
My clothes are loser, and I find I can't eat anywhere near as much on non-fast days as I used to....

So yes, the food intolerance thing — while the failsafe diet is definitely helping me with stuff like insomnia and brain fog etc, and I'm staying on it — the diary / gluten etc stuff didn't have any impact on my digestive well-being, nor my weight, in the longer term.

The failsafe diet isn't exactly low cal (plenty of carbs and fats), and I've put on another 2 kg. But last week, my doctor halved my mirtazapine dose (which I've been on for insomnia for over 9 years), and my appetite has definitely reduced. I restarted 5:2 about a month ago, now that the elimination diet is done. And since being on the reduced dose (15 mg) of mirtazapine, I am losing weight more steadily now, and staying down on non-fasting days (that's a first).

Only one week in, fingers crossed ...

Last week, I put on 2lbs. The week before, I gained half a pound. Not particularly happy about it, but equally, that's sometimes what you get for being female.....and having hormones floating about all the time...

Having said that, I did 4:3 last week....jumped on the scales this morning and had managed to shed 5 and a half pounds, tee hee! Just as well, because with a target of 16lbs to lose by Easter, I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to get off the ground! So now, it's 6lbs down and 10 to go....still quite a tough challenge, but worth having something to aim for....

I've done 4:3 twice now. The fast days are not the problem - it's the other days that I sometimes fail at! A lifetime of comfort eating is a very hard habit to break, so yes, I sometimes get it wrong, but it's the general trend that matters.

Am loving the Mountaineering Tent! Check it out if you ever wondered exactly why you have a dysfunctional relationship with food....

After 3 weeks and 6 fasts, I am down 5.5 pounds. Good for me! Although I tried to stay away from Easter chocolate, a neighbour brought over a small box of After Eights. I had a few, so yummy.
Today is a fast day. My plan is to eat blackberries or strawberries in the mid-afternoon. Supper will be salmon, kale with some other veggies. Of course, lots of water, coffee. Maybe diet pop.
I am thinking about a reward after 10 pounds. The local spa does facials. I have never had a facial. Seems like a good goal for me. 4.5 pounds. Should be another month, at my rate.

Have been stuck for a while now. I'm moving up and down between 198 and 203. I'm so tired of being stuck. Still fasting twice a week. Have been drinking more water, especially on fast days. But still not making any progress.

I'm fasting today and it is my second fast of the week. Am also toying with the idea of fasting again Friday. Maybe the extra fast will help me get back on track. SIGH!

This is starting to feel like dieting instead of living and that is a bad thing. When I was making steady progress it was so much easier to motivate myself on fasting days.

My birthday is next week and I really was hoping to be smaller by then. After my steady success in the summer/fall I expected to keep moving along after Christmas and be closer to the 40 pound lost mark. Instead I'm flitting around 27, 28, 29. ARGH!
