Cholesterol. More and mroe scientists agree that cholesterol is a defensive reaction of your body when eating processed foods (these foods suffer destruction procedures of vital substances such as hydrogenation, homogenizing, irradiation, cleaning). If your body is acidic, loaded with undigested waste than this may lead to inflammatory conditions and injuries - and cholesterol tries to correct such conditions. Cholesterol is basically a material produced by your body that is used to repair damage. Cholesterol is also an integral element of all cell membranes, including the brain, and is hence not our enemy, but a friendly element.

Excessive cholesterol is a consequence, and hence lowering cholesterol with statins is not a solution - it is necessary to eliminate the causes of excessive cholesterol.

How do statins work in the body? Medicinal statin disables the enzyme in the liver, which is necessary for the production of cholesterol. When certain active substances interfere with the operation...

Well, I've not really been thinking about my weight for some weeks, after having the removal of an ovarian cyst which had attached itself to my bowel , together with a full hysterectomy, but starting to consider things again today I decided to weigh myself, finding that I have lost a little. I had expected to have gained and to pull myself together if I decided that I wanted to stay below the original ten stones which I had set as my original goal.

I've decided that I will try for nine stones as my target weight, as that was what I weighed when I married for the first time. My waist was much smaller though and I think that it is unlikely that I'll ever achieve that. For the time being, to give me time to recover, I'll continue with taking it easy and I'll try to maintain until the New Year.

I'm very pleased and absolutely gobsmacked to discover that I'm still under ten stones, especially as I've had a few mochas and slices of chocolate cheesecake on recent trips out. I've still been...

So as I was fasting on Monday, it dawned upon me that I wanted to read ‘The fast diet’. I have seen his horizon documentary which googled after reading the article on BBC. I am not new to fasting, I remember my breaking fast as a five year old (a training fast for 6 hours) and years later after leaving my home country to Europe a break from fasting. A few years back I stumbled upon Brad Pilon and his programme. Needless to say, I read it, liked it and have fasted on and off. The offs are usually due to being sick and other life drama that throws you under the bus.

So here I am, recovered a bout of walking pneumonia and in need to get my body back to where it was. My hair was falling like mad (finding out due to the illness) a slight bleh moment and missing the sun. I went for a long walk on Sunday I decided to fast on Monday. I also decided to get the book and read it within a few hours ( what can I say I am a fast reader) and will now fast 3 days a week. I have given myself 3 months to ...

So I think I will have a skinny day on Saturday and see how it goes. It will be my first fast and I'm still unsure if to have 2 meals or 1... I may go two and see how it pans out.

If anyone reading this has a quick recipe for skinny days, please do share.
