OH has decided he's not enjoying fasting this time around, so doesn't want to continue with me. I have told him I want to lose another stone so I'll be carrying on with it. After reading that article I posted on cereal killers earlier, we are going to cut down processed food and see how that goes. I reckon he's hoping his weight will fall off without the effort of dieting. He wants to exercise more, but I really don't enjoy exercise, he likes long walks and I just don't!
Perhaps he doesn't care if he's obese, but I'm not going back down that road. I will carry on and get to a better weight x x x

2014 holds 2 significant events for me - my mother's 80th birthday on April 19th (yesterday) and my first-born's graduation from Bath Uni in early July.
It was with these 2 events in mind that I embarked on my new WOL back on 25th November 2013.
Put simply, I was fed up with feeling like a second-class citizen....plus I had pretty much reached the limit of my legs being able to carry so much weight around...comfortably.
5 months on, I have lost 36lbs.....yay! Still have shed loads more to go (started at 15st 8lbs) but I am pretty jolly chuffed right now!
On Good Friday, as the weather was so lovely, we hauled out last years' summer clothes for assessment. I popped on a pair of cut-offs.....and laughed myself silly at the sight! Size 20 and way too roomy....yippee! Not even going to put them away "just in case"! Nope, out they go.....never to return.....for I have found my sustainable way......at last!
And I can't tell you what a thrill it gives me........

Hi everyone,
I am 5'4" tall, 64 years old, will be 65 in a couple of weeks, and I've been on the 5:2 WOE for about 6 weeks total. I have shed about 7 pounds (a more or less up and down fashion, losing and regaining the same pound multiple times ) as well as taking 2 inches off waist. I find it very easy to live with--the flexibility of shifting fast days as needed and knowing that any sort of deprivation is just until tomorrow keeps me on track. I'm not too tied to calorie watching except to keep it close on fast days.
One of my original reasons to try this WOL was to keep from going from pre-diabetes to type 2 and to keep from having to take a statin for cholesterol management. I am looking for better glucose and cholesterol numbers. I also want to lose weight because I know that will help on many fronts.
I eat a pretty healthy diet overall, but it's obviously taking some tweaking...

I've not been on here for a couple of years, what's happened? Where is everyone?! I'm sure this site used to be bigger somehow..
Anyway the 5:2 was really good last time I tried it, I got down to 9 stone for my wedding as I'd hoped, but in the 3 years since then I've slowly crept up and up and I've been just over 10 stone for a few months now. I've religiously typed everything I eat into MFP for the last month, sticking to their restrictive suggestion of 1200 calories a day and I've put on another half lb.
I'm refusing to give in and buy new jeans, so here I am again. First target, to fit the jeans comfortably.....
So today is the first fast day in 2 years. I've got my coffee and I'll not eat again until dinner because if i eat anything I'll just want more! Wish me luck....

Was nervous about standing on the scales this morning. I would prefer to never weigh again as they are a very strong symbol of dieting. But hey ho these things have to be endured. 1kg off this month, a measly one despite all my fasting. Next, measure the waist....well knock me down with a whatsit....11cms off! That is huge. Explains why waistbands are bigger. If I could get rid of my tum too that would be good. It is getting smaller though. So I am now 75kg, a bit nearer goal and further away from the 80kg I was rapidly approaching. So I am happy. This is working and I will continue with 4:3 and eat what I want on the other days. If I keep losing like this by the end of the year I will be under 70kg. Happy days.
Off to have my breakfast now.
