Hello!

Thought I'd join in the blogging. It seems really interesting and I thought that I might be able to get some good advice off you guys!

Day 1: I started my first fast day today. I thought about food a bit more but having managed to persuade my mum & stepdad to join in, I found myself the motivator which inspired me more.

I have opted for the 3:4 diet. Reason being, I have recently had surgery on my knee (OUCH!!) and since originally dislocating my knee in May, I think the term is that I've "piled it on".

I'm 5'9 and 23. I do weigh more than your average lady because I'm so tall and by no means am I massively overweight. However, I'm not happy with my current weight.

I currently weight 76kg and my target is 60.3kg.

I am starting before the festive season, so I guess I really will be tried. I will aim to update as much as possible with my progress. Any advice?

Good luck to all  ...

Last night I didn't eat after dinner, though dinner wasn't over until 8.30. Not so tonight. I am not sure if I was genuinely hungry when I had some cottage cheese and prunes for supper, but I felt like I wanted to eat. I also did have something to eat (quinoa and coconut pudding) at afternoon tea time when we went out for a coffee. And did have 3 meals as well - home made muesli with yoghurt for brekkie, tuna and avocado salad for lunch, roast chicken and veg followed by apple and orange for dinner.

Will see how I feel in the morning!

I've just caught a comment somewhere where somebody remarked that she was looking forward to maintenance because she'd be able to eat all of the foods she's currently 'denying' herself.

I'm not sure about this in so many ways that I don't know where to start but I suppose that's because there's probably a lot of context and nuance that I don't have and is taken as implicitly understood but would be bone-achingly tedious to detail in a forum post. I've no idea if she meant that she was going to revert to the WOE that had contributed to her previous weight or if she had been eating to heal a food issue (emotional or physical) and that when she'd done that, she could eat currently off-plan foods. :?:

I eat whatever food I want but I eat it in appropriate amounts. 'Appropriate' for me encompasses my activity levels and my likely endocrine and physiological response to the food and whether it will...

This is gonna sounds ridiculous but I actually find fast days easier that feeding days! Is this because my calorie intake for the day is so low I just stop thinking about food? When I have no strict limits I seem to go off the rails - like today! Is there any advice out there for a self confessed overeater??

I had an eating binge yesterday, late afternoon. Wine may have started it, but then I went to "party mix", which are little breads and pretzels, then to chocolate, then to pizza and finished with a can of Pepsi.
I get into eating binges from time to time, which is the reason for my BMI where it is.
It's emotional eating. I talked to a bunch of neighbours yesterday and they all asked what we were doing for Easter. Nothing. Our daughters live a long way from here and we are a very small family anyway. Not a family weekend.
But, today, that's fine. Husband is working on kitchen renovations. So cooking a big family meal would be challenging. And I am working today. It's a nice day, weather-wise. So I can take the dog for a nice walk after work.
I will make better eating choices today. I will fast on Monday.
I am a little surprised that other people are looking at my little blog. If you are reading this.... hello from my little part of Canada. Kate ...
