Husband and I had weigh in today....half pound for me but nada for him! Think the scale lied so may sneak a second weigh tomoro! Still treated ourselves to a margarita and fried pickles tonight ! Trying to build up some wiggle room to enjoy culinary delights on our trip to UK and Paris in September! Down two pant sizes so looking forward to some new clothes to pack! It is officially not a diet any more but a WOL! Actually looking forward to getting stuck for blood work update in two weeks! That is the ultimate goal....good health practices! Stick with it all! If we can see these results anyone can!

Well here we go. I've been um-ing and err-ing ever since the documentary. I used to be a very fit, healthy and active person. A lifeguard and swimming and gym instructor. But that was over a quarter of a century ago and since then an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, working long hours in an office too far from home to cycle to has meant that my weight has crept up and my health has deteriorated without me really noticing it. I now have poor knees and I'm developing arthritis. I never even noticed it although there has, for a long time, been that nagging in the back of my mind telling me that I need to do something. I've been growing more and more anxious. Not really about my weight per se, as I don't think I'm that bad for a woman my age, but more about what the implications are for my insides. I'm not coping with stress so well, even had a few chest pains (which turned out to be acid reflux). I'm also concerned about my cholesterol levels which run high in our family. So as I said at...

Ok. So I joined the site just over a week ago. I have decided to only weigh myself once a week, and must confess to enjoying the 5:2. I really enjoy dipping into the site to read of the experiences of others. It is at these times that I catch up on some of the great comments from the site admin...Moogie. What a great site admin. One who really cares. Great comments Moogie. You are a ray of sunshine, and I love the red hair!

as they always say it is the journey that is important not the goal- and I feel that adopting this WOE the journey could very well be life long and life enhancing.
I have tried many different diets in my time from HIGH FIBRE TO SLIMMING WORLD and lost loads with them all so I know I can do it and i also know how good it feels to be much slimmer than I am now. I want to do something this time that enables me to keep the weight off for good- I cannot afford from a health point of view to put it all back on again as I have had 2 new hips and do not really want to have those replaced too soon because of carrying to much weight.
And the rest, high BP, etc.
So since end of january 2013 I have lost nearly a stone and 5 inches off my waist- can see parts of me that I thoght were forever lost to my sight-lol.
The fantastic thing is that ali is doing this with me and we fast on the same days which makes it all so much easier- mututla support counts for a lot.
We have been on holiday with this WOE...
