I have still not fasted. It's now two weeks since my last fast and I'm getting irritated with myself. I'm just about 16:8, but with no scales its hard to judge how much I have gained. So a combination of going back to high carb and no fasting is bound to have had an impact.

Today I order a Withings scale to try and re-motivate/shock me back into getting into a fasting routine. I'm still only a couple weeks into the new job in a new country, so I suppose I should give myself some space. Still, I really do need to get a grip because I know I'm undoing my hard work.

Well actually a combination of an alarm clock and whining dog woke me up. The problem was that my wife has today off work and I didn't need to set the damn alarm!

Anyway, we have an unfortunate bathroom mirror that tells no lies (better than scales) and a bleary eyed Beachbum was catapulted into the reality of carrying an extra 4 stone :shame: so I've decided to stick an extra fast in today then again on Friday.

Just think back to all the other fancy diets we've all tried - even a basic calorie controlled diet has you looking at all the low calorie sandwiches in Boots and trying to work out which will be the most satisfying for 300 calories. Well on this diet I can have a decent sized dinner for about 500 calories and a couple of plums. I allow myself milk in morning coffee but stick to green tea...

Reading round this forum, it can be quite confusing at times but once I got my head round a few of the terms and read up on Intermittent Fasting (IF), it really is quite interesting.
I read a lot of other blogs off this forum and I especially like the positive thinking (very good programme last night on BBC2 by Dr Michael Mosley) focused ones which tend to be largely American but not all.
Anyway, now I have the hang of 5:2 and 36 hour liquid fasting, I think I will try the 16:8 IF way of eating. Basically you don't eat for 16 hours and then have a 8 hour window to eat your daily calories. Put more simply and I like simple explanations! I would eat my last meal in the evening, before 8pm and then miss out breakfast and eat around midday or 1pm (whenever the 16 hour fast is due to finish) and then my evening meal later.
Now, all this should translate in me losing some of my weight and I have a lot to lose (at least 4 stone) so anything that takes it off in a healthy way and also in a way...
