So I've gone my first full week without weighing myself.

My friend asked how I feel in myself i.e. lighter or heavier. I don’t really know to be honest! I feel like I've been eating well and exercising well, and I don’t feel bloated or anything. I haven’t been obsessing over calories or how much I might weigh at this very second, but I just feel “well”. As in, content. Looking in the mirror when I was in my underwear this morning I thought I looked fine, but so much with me and my body image depends on how I am mentally. This might sound strange, but if I know I've eaten well and done quite a bit of exercise, it’s like it has this placebo effect and I can look in the mirror and think “hey, not bad”. On the other side, if I've eaten junk and missed the gym a few times, I can look in the mirror and think “what a mess, look away!” It’s the same when I weigh myself – see a pound lost and I’ll think I look fine, a pound gained and I’m suddenly GIANT. This is completely irrational of course – how ...

Well it's now a over 5 weeks since I joined the forum. At that time I was looking for some advice on starting my first 5:2 fast week. I decided to do Tuesdays and Thursdays as those days looked as if they would be more convenient, most often.

The first week went ok but I was ravenously hungry after each fast day and was worried that I might over-do the quantities on the following days. I seemed to have lost around a lb by the end of the week and managed to keep it off over the weekend.

The following week I decided to repeat it but this time I found it very much harder. Worse still, after the second fast day in the second week I found myself constantly thinking about food and, even more worrying, I started to find myself craving more and more unhealthy foods.

I should explain that in May last year I gave up eating all "white" foods - anything that is high carbs and white (wheat, rice and potatoes). Amazingly, at that time I found the adjustment incredibly simple....

Inspired by my sons weight loss with 5:2, I have started today with a fast day!
I followed weight watchers to lose 42lbs. six years ago, since then, delighting in my ability to look many years younger than my (now) 74 years, I have persevered with yo yo dieting but never more than an additional 8 lbs.
I now enjoy a wonderful Mediterranean lifestyle in full but active retirement, and would love to have one last shot at getting to the weight I was on my wedding Day, 54 years ago!!
Happy to help and motivate others and happy to accept today's thinking and advice!
Please help!

It is the first Monday in Autumn, here in England, this is also my first blog on this site and I am starving. Have been doing this diet or way of eating since February and today is a struggle.I began the day on a scrambled egg, one herb tea and one orange juice. I then went to work which was three hours of gardening - raking, weeding and cutting back all manner of herbaceous shrubs. This work is like going to the gym - lots of stretching and bending with my head next to my ankles most of the time. When I arrive home, I am knackered and would love a sandwich or piece of cheese. But, I have to resist because it is Monday. Somehow I have to make it through until teatime feeling famished. It is hard not to have a nibble, instead of going to the cupboard, I walk to the loo and stand on the scales.Weight has gone up since last time but on the bright side, I still have to make two new holes on my leather belts - one for now and one for next month. This is a better gauge than those scales anyway...

Well after weeks of thinking about it.... reading about it..... I finally did it! I got off my butt this morning and have started my new exercise regime :victory:

So after much deliberation I decided on hit, I am not so enthused by exercise and plus I only have a tiny space to work in as I live on a boat, and yes some might say I have all the outdoor space I ever need living in the Algarve! That is not gonna happen any time soon because of me being so self consciousness. :bigfrown:

But hay at least I have started, I even had another peek in the hit forum club but that all looks really very serious so I shyed away again form joining this.

Anyway my exercise consists of using this machine 3 times a week ...
