So, on Monday 27th May I saw the 5-2 bikini diet on my kindle, downloaded it and straight away thought this is the diet for me!
I am 30 and have been on a 'diet' since I was about 19! I have never been thin, at my smallest 9st 7lbs and my heaviest at nearly 16 stone! I'm only 5ft 3lbs! My weight fluctuated over the years, having 3 children, losing weight for holidays and my wedding and then eating badly and making bad food choices in-between.
I have tried weight watchers, slimming world, slim fast, paleo, All had great results in the first few weeks but I soon lose interest or don't have time to count points or make different meals to what the family are eating.
So here goes to 5-2. I'm feeling confident that this will fit into family life and fasting while the kids are at school won't have any negative effects on them re food choices.
Day 3- fast day 1 was yesterday and preparing for fast day 2 tmw.
A family holiday in 10 weeks. Lets see how motivated I can stay!!!!

went on holiday with my mum and decided it would be best to skip the fasting for a week as she'd only get worried and think i have an eating disorder. like you know those parents who always make you eat a LOT and get super worried if you don't have seconds or skip dessert? well mine are like that (no wonder i've had weight problems since i was a kid but my parents are lovely and i guess it's a generation thing. when they we're growing up food wasn't as readily available as it is now).

so anywho, i came home yesterday and now it's fasting monday as usual. but i didn't gain any weight during the holiday so that was nice, but we went to London and walked around 7-10 hours every day so i got a lot of excercise. :)

but i felt sort of... heavy without the fasting. the fasting makes you feel so fresh and energetic so i missed that.

Good fast day yesterday as follows:

Calories 502
Carbs 13% (16g)
Fat 55% (30g)
Protein 32% (40g)

No breakfast
Lunch chicken breast with mushrooms, shallots sauted in a little coconut milk and tarragon.
Snack. Bulletproof expresso (so small)

No exercise. Oh dear I'm slipping. I walked a fair bit but did not do all of my steps.

Hunkered down in view of the storm with 'Grain Brain' for company. Have read the science bit summarised here. the-5-2-lab-f10/dr-perlmutter-and-his-book-grain-brain-t9346.html

Next up is the four week protocol. Not sure I'm going to get time to get through it until the weekend but so far it looks like a high fat, low carb regime, ie around 60g, lots of supplements and plenty of sleep and exercise.

Short post today. Christmas shopping ...

I had been waiting since lunch time for this meal, what a dissapointment

I guess the key to this diet is "be prepared" rather than the usual way of "I'll wing it".

Dinner this evening was :

Steamed Fish with Chillie and Garlic (90 cals)
Steamed Spinach. (18 cals)

Mental note to self, be prepared and don't use products that have vinegar as their main preserving agent.

Here's looking forward to the 40 cal chocolate drink I have been saving for this evening.

Roll on Wednesday, give me your best shot.

Went out with son tonight after fasting all day. Stuck to a small side salad and a lite beer!! Well, and one small onion ring that I positively savored much to his delight! Going to try and hold off breakfast til mid morning for a change then go to normal dinner for after a fast day. Mowed the lawn after work so hoping I worked off the onion ring! Lol. To bed now to dream my food themed dreams on a fast night! Not that I am hungry but proves I must be obsessing about food in my subconscious!
