I have been doing 5:2 for 5 days now and I have just found this site. I cannot believe that you can keep track of everything and blog all in one place. Amazing.

I have lost 1.9kg in total so far and am loving the program/way of life. Probably like a lot of people, I have tried a million diets and of recent years, nothing including gym work outs and low calorie meals have been able to shift even a kilo. If anything I was putting on even though I was doing everything they tell you works.

A friend and her husband came over last weekend and they had been doing 5:2 for 2.5 weeks. She had lost 2.8kg and he 8kg. Absolutely amazing, I was inspired by their progress. They told me the name of the book and from there I was glued for a couple of hours, reading. Fully determined, I started the very next day.

I weighed myself this morning on new scales and found that my actual weight was 83.3kg. More than I thought. Makes me more determined than ever to make this work. Thanks to Vicki for the link...

The week which I felt was a struggle and a disaster actually showed me that some things are just in my head. I had several bad eating moments but its more due to head issues that I have and need sorting out.

I ate food, I ate chocolate, I ate ice cream and I lost weight. I went out for a steak dinner and it did not make me gain weight. I walked 6 out of 7 days. I said to myself it is ok if I mess up a little, it does not mean that I need to throw in the towel.

The walking clears my head and de stress the body. I managed an extra-long walk on Sunday. I went for an hours walk before I was picked up where we went to the beach and I walked home. Another 30 min of walk or so was added in there.

The benefits are already showing itself. Pants that I did not fit last year I am managing to use them comfortably. I am measuring my thigh which I know I don’t retain water so if I lose fat there, it is gone for good.

The baby steps taken is good as I am not going to give up easily and I know I...

Well just weighed in for week 2 and didn't have any loss which is disappointing. :frown:

I didn't gain though so I suppose that is a plus. I guess this means I will have to start counting calories on my non-fast days, which I was hoping I wouldn't have to!

I've worked out that for me to lose 1kg per week my calories should be 1400 per day, so if I only have 500 each fast day and 1800 on non-fast days, then that averages out to 1400 per day over the course of one week. :geek: I'll try that this week and see what happens. 1800 cals for the day sounds ok. Has anyone else tried this sort of approach? I'd be keen to hear from you!

I have not blogged since May but thought I should record my progress for all of you still struggling to lose the pounds. Today i weighed in at 181.4 pounds - under 13 stone just for the first time in years. 164 pounds still seems a long way off but considering I started at 205 pounds much progress has been made and I now buy size 16 rather than size 20. I still have to force myself to pick up a 16 because i still cant believe they will fit! I even have a stretchy size 12 skirt i can get on which was mis marked in the shop. So moral of the story is keep going peeps

So, this will be my third fast this week, my sixth in total. I am still distressed about the repeated fox attack yesterday but strangely did not head for the pantry. Actually I did not have dinner last night. Might be a mistake as I am fasting today but we shall see. Part of me feels I cannot cope with fasting today but the other part doesn't want to eat anyway. We are such complex beings. All I know is this way suits me. I have no problem fasting and I am slowly gaining control on feed days, long may that continue! Logic tells me at some point I will lose weight so I will patiently plod on looking forward to shedding the fat.
