This is my first ever blog....thought it might help me keep track of what I'm doing and how I'm getting on so here it goes......

I started the 5:2 diet yesterday (12/03/13) in an attempt to lose the weight I have slowly put on over the last 2 years ready for my wedding day in August 2013. I have 1 stone to lose by then so I am back at the size I was when I first met my partner 5 years ago! Since the weight started to creep on I have tried diets, one of which was successful (weight watchers), but once I reached my target weight and stopped dieting it soon crept back on and I find that once I have used one diet technique it doesn't work for me again :frown: so I've had to look for something new.

My fiancées work colleague told me about this diet and how effective it has been for him so I thought I would look it up and give it a go as it came recommended. I have downloaded the 5:2 book to my ...

Realise I never post what I'm having on a food day... well fasted yesterday and wasnt hungry until lunch time today so had a bit of ham and 2 slices of nimble for lunch at 1pm at work. Came home and had an afternoon snack of a 3 small slices of baguette with a bag of crisps and a refresher ice pop (only 56 calories!!) and 2 gingernuts with a cuppa and dinner in our house tonight was a very lazy burger and chips and beans all around - hold the bap on mine :).

Have no idea what calories that comes in at! But dont care as still refusing to count on non fast days...

Still planning to squeeze my third fast day for the week in tomorrow... but hubby comes home at 5pm from work and that's us on our hols so if I'm honest I can see a few glasses of wine on the horizon... maybe I should just hold 400 calories for 4 bacardi breezers and have 100 calories worth of salad for dinner ... i think that could work!!

So yesterday was my 5th fast day (unplanned, but it worked out great). I've been pleasantly surprised just how much I like doing fast days!
My problem with weight and food has been a life-long problem which got much worse after I had children. My ideal would be to purely eat for fuel and not have have such an obsession about grub!!
Anyway, I find that towards the end of fast days I start to think about all the things I'm going to eat the next day. Usually, I don't start piling into the food the next day so it's not a problem. But last night, there were some leftover cooked sausages from my son's dinner and I started to think about having an egg mayonnaise and sausage sandwich the next day (today). I even boiled up two eggs in preparation.
So, this morning comes and I don't feel like eating (as usual after a fast day)but the two prepared eggs and sausages are in the fridge and 'need to be eaten up' (this is definitely a mind-set I need to get out of).
The bread in...

I decided to weigh myself every other week because I read somewhere in this site that once a week is more than enough and so I did and had to ask my housemate for her digital one because I could not believe my own weighing scale. I actually lost 1.4kg :victory: It's not a lot but it's some. That's two weeks and 4 fast days. It was so rewarding, I was on a high the whole day.

I also had my blood glucose checked and it's at 5.7 mmol/L. The normal range is 3 to 6 and I'm so relieved, I'm not. I've been having symptoms of diabetes and my co-worker was kind enough to lend me her kit.

As for the fast days, they were not easy at all. Especially when I knew it's the pre-period hungers that kept banging on my tummy. I had to endure not eating while on a social event and giving one a miss because it's my fast day (valentine's day to be exact). A good friend recommended praying over and over...

So again I spent most of today driving and was able to fast. I have fasted for three days whilst away which I am very proud of! I feel very positive about 4:3 now. This morning I had to do my bra up on its tightest fitting, a few weeks ago it was on its loosest! I don't know what the scales will show at my next weigh in but my clothes are getting loose.
Just went to check my broody hens and there is a chick under one of them. Only came home today so not sure when it hatched. Will sort it all out tomorrow morning by which time some more may have hatched.
