Big day today. The chicks have had 24 hours without the heat lamp and have retained their body heat. I feel they now have enough feathers to live outside and I can have my spare bedroom back. I have an old rabbit hutch and run I use for chicks as it takes a while to integrate them with the flock. I also have to protect them from the Buzzards. Nothing is happening with the eggs in the incubator so one more week and I will dispose of them. The two ducks are still sitting on their eggs but no ducklings yet. Jemima duck has settled into a routine of flying off during the day and coming back to the chicken barn at night. She seems to not want to be with the ducks.
The Elder trees are starting to bud. I hope there are plenty of flowers this year as I have run out of elder flower cordial. The pear trees also have buds.
Weather meant to improve this week so hope to get going fully on veggie patch.
Am aiming for another fast day on Thursday and am working on pulling myself out of depression. Some...

Was not really in the mood to fast today but told myself it's Monday, my fast day and just got on with it. Thought about having cake but again told myself it is only one day so just had coffee. Have now had my meal and am full, no temptation to eat anything else. I realize not every day will be this easy but am pleased today was. Hopefully it will give me the strength for days when it is harder!
My new little rescued puppy has been coughing so I took him to the vet. He needed the next lot of vaccinations anyway. Turns out he has kennel cough! I have caught it early and it is not serious, just affecting the trachea. He is on antibiotics for 10 days with instructions to go back if the cough has not lessened in 5 days. Then he will need anti inflammatory tablets too. Am hoping it won't come to that. He is very bright in himself, playing and eating well. He has gained weight too, now 2.7kg! Bruno is over 40kg! Thankfully Bruno is fine.

Weighed in and have lost 11 lbs since April, 15. This is almost a lifetime achievement. Sure I've lost more - but after 2 weeks I'm usually looking for my excuse to stop any diet, program, protein shake or weight loss program. And while loosing the weight is wonderful, the piece of mind and lack of shame is even better. I can go to bed without having to beat myself up for any food related failure. I can't begin to say how much that burden weighs.

Rain in Angleton, Texas USA today and my spirits are soaring..

It isn't! Honest! Diet? Should that read DIE IT! Let's face facts. How many of us have dieted before? How many of us have dieted for decades? What has been the result? Overall, weight gain. This should be called Freedom. That's how it feels. Freedom from the rollercoaster of gains and losses, losses and gains. Freedom from guilt, sod it, might as well eat until I vomit, guilt, sod it, might as well eat until I vomit.

I personally feel as though, some kind soul has said, here's the key to bliss. Eat to 100 or 110% of your daily needs, 5 times a week, eat what you want within those guidelines and two days a week restrain yourself. That's it, simples

We may not lose great lumps in one go, but then we don't gain great lumps in one go either. It's slow, it might seem at times non-existent, but it's in the right direction and, please God, it's long lasting ...
