These are my numbers

Current
Total 6.9mmol/l
LDL 3.5
HDL 3.0
(Ratio 2.3) hope I have calculated that right.
Triglycerides 0.8

Glucose 4.9mmol/l

Previous (bearing in mind I was 10lb's LIGHTER than now):
6.8
LDL 4.1
HDL 2.3
Ratio 2.9
Triglycerides 0.9

So protective HDL is high and triglycerides low. LDL is borderline high but offset by a high HDL. I gather the number to be interested in is the ratio, which needs to be under 5. So in my case, these are good results I assume? If anyone can tell me my assumptions are correct, that would be helpful. The doc said that it takes some doing to reduce LDL when carrying MORE weight than when last tested. Hoping that is the low carb high fat effect

All other blood tests were absolutely fine. I'm just waiting for a couple of more tests to come through before I can give myself a tick in the box for another year. My urine infection is apparently...

Weight 8st 13.25

REMAIN POSITIVE. I can't have expected to just fall to 8st 10 in one week. My liquid fast yesterday wasn't great. The bulk of what I ate was liquid - I think I had about 400 cals or. I had tea all day and then at lunch time I had soup. It was when I got home that I gave into temptation. As you know, I had another pack of soup just in case. HOwever, my OH arrived home with my favourite crisps (Hunky Dory Cheese and Onion). I felt obliged to open them so as not to offend him. However, I exercised great willpower by only eating a couple and then rolling the bag away for tomorrow. One thing that helped was reading MIMI SPENCERS new book. I was just on the part which was telling me not to give into temptation on fast days and to think in just under 12 hours I can eat something. She was extolling the virtues of creating the habit of saying no and being really strict on fast days - something which I have become quite complacent about. Therefore I put this in my mind and put them...

right, here i go, one day in, eating as normal. I have some trepidation for tomorrow,my first fast day, but I'm sure it'll be fine. I just don't want to run out of calories, so I must plan. Not got all the info yet, so am trying to find information on calories from the web, not as easy as it sounds, luckily most packets have ccalorific values, which helps for a few things, but not all fresh veg that you pick up, if it isn't packaged.

Wish me luck....

My story 50 weeks on::
This time last year I hadn't even heard of 5:2 I must have been in hibernation because I saw no publicity and missed the horizon programme, then read a comment in
Mimi Spencer's weekly column about her writing a book with Dr M and although I'd just reached the point of giving up on the weightloss game having just had a complete clear out of my smaller clothing and footwear.
I sent for the book and got started right away jumped in with 3 days not even knowing 4:3 existed because I found it so easy and thought I can do this something "clicked " straight away and I knew this is the one!!!
I also restarted my walking just small walks to begin with then later building the length up as I travelled through the summer months.
After a couple of weeks I found this forum
full of (mostly) lovely people kind, helpful, friendly and very informative I've learned so much from this forum which has provided me with the backbone to my weightloss journey.
Shorter version...
