I have been thinking about hunger, as I do 5:2 WOE. Why do I fear it? What have I done in the past to avoid it. Why am I embracing I now?
Hunger is not such a bad feeling. I dislike being cold or tired much worse. I can put hunger off and not think about it. Other feelings are more intense and last longer.
Fear or avoidance of hunger could be a feeling from being a child. My mother and grandmother made sure I well fed. Likewise I fed my children well, making sure they were not hungry.
No one is going to starve in a day or twice a week of having little food.
Food cravings are more intense for me than hunger. I think of the two as completely different. My cravings are for sugar and/or chocolate. Hunger does not need those, but real food.
I see my hunger as a means to an end. Healthy weight. Looking better.
Today I will have my 500 calories and really enjoy them. Veggies and salmon for supper and eggs and more veggies for a mid-day meal. I will enjoy my hot red tea and cold water....

I made the decision not to widely disclose the fact that I was following the 5:2 WoE, mainly because of my own fear of failure :frown: Yesterday, mum in law was coming to lunch, I hadnt seen her since the start of my 5:2 journey and I wondered if she may notice the small weightloss Ive had so far. What would I say? Thank goodness for the forum and sure enough I found a few threads to read e.g.'5:2 undercover' and 'Dealing with people who are hostile towards 5:2'. Isn't it great that we have an opportunity to explore other peoples ideas to help formulate our own. After reading the posts I had decided that should the mum in law ask I would simply say 'I am reducing the amount of calories I eat in a week' ..truth .. As it turned out she did not directly ask but she did say 'how well you look dear'. We had...

Hello if anyone's reading!

This diet seriously sounds too good to be true, I really hope it works! I'm going to use this blog to track everything, my food/calories, exercise, loss etc. as it always helps me to write things down. I'm on day two of the 5:2 and this is my original plan (though I might change it now I've found out I'm meant to eat my TDEE on the non-fast days and not 1500ish calories):

Monday - 1500 (couldn't get through a Monday at work as a fast day!)
Tuesday - 500
Wednesday - 1500
Thursday - 500
Friday - 1800
Saturday - 1800
Sunday - 1800

With my TDEE being 2233 this plan would give me a loss of two pounds a week, crazy talk! I'm going to try it like this but at least I know if I eat a bit more on a non-fast day then I don't have to beat myself up about it.

I'm 22, 5'6", 165lb/74.9kg with a BMI of 26.8. On weekdays I walk from my house to Rock Ferry station (about 12-15 mins) and now because the trains are off I walk from James Street to work (25-30 mins). To go...

Yahoo, stepped on the scales this morning and have shed the weight I'd put on, through very poor choices the week before, plus extra! So very happy with the consistency of 5:2!
I now find I look forward to a fast day, well the first one of the week to be totally honest, that second one can still be a grin and bare it LOL
Yesterday had a lovely bit of lemon meringue pie with cream, seriously yum! Apologies to anyone fasting and reading this  Still though I stuck to my recommended calorie intake around it, had more veggies and fruit, less carbs. Feel great this morning
I just feel so much better in myself, feel more in control of my choices, becoming more planned with food on fast days.
One thing though that I continue to struggle with, my own self image. Interestingly in spite of practically...

Yesterday I went for a dinner date with my husband. We were talking about a particular pants that he has bought and I told him I have the same model as though I bought the kids size. He asked me what size I told him size 14 year old. I have always bought pants in boys department due to the length and lack of hips so the pants fits me perfectly compared to a pants bought from an adult female department. I also told him the jeans that I had on was a size 2 and he knows about what size 0 is all about. I like tight jeans and hate wearing a belt so my jeans are on snug for me in skinny fit.

Then this morning as I was struggling to wake up, I was sitting in the bed. He was like ‘You should start eating’ (he don’t know I am fasting) and I went ‘I do eat!’ Well you are perfect now and any lower you would be too bony. As it is your spine is sticking out. I pointed out to the love handles and said well I am still fat here and he went ‘ You are supposed to have some fat there’. I must say I am...
