I'm travelling today so airport days are always good for fasting. The food is typically horrid no matter what class you are flying. I have however loaded up with a bulletproof coffee which should keep me going for the day. Bulletproof Exec do an IF protocol and they also do an extended fasting protocol. I might research both methods. I do well on 'fat' and tend to fail when I don't eat enough of it. I have no coconut butter or grass fed butter in the apartment though, so will need to pop round to Whole Foods when I get in later today.

So... For my first goal I was trying to get down to 209. That was the lowest weight I achieved in 2012. I had been getting frustrated as I'd see 209.8 or 209.6 and then it would pop back up to 211-213 range.

This week I opted to try fasting 3 days (Mon, Wed, Fri) to see if I could make some real progress instead of lingering here. I'm also struggling with some work stress and am feeling down and very stressed/angry with my boss. This is leading me to feel somewhat nauseated which isn't fun, but does make fasting more palatable. For my fast yesterday I ended up only having one meal of 320 calories. I just didn't feel like having anything else in the evening. And the amazing thing was it really wasn't that hard, even though I ate less than I usually do and less than I am allowed.

This morning I was rewarded on the scales. So my stats are:
- Weight: 207.2 (started at 227.5 July 5, down 20.3 pounds)
- Body fat: 43.1%...

So I finally got out on my bike this morning. Why on earth I thought I could just breeze round the hilly circuit I struggled with last year I don't know. It was hard, hard, hard. Off to cycle round Brittany in three weeks so I need to get out regularly before then and get a lot fitter.

Fasting today but have changed my normal pattern of eating a snack and then rest of calories in the evening. Have just eaten 550 calories so won't be eating again until tomorrow evening. Will be interesting to see how I feel this evening. It's 1.30 now so I have all afternoon and evening to go. Hope I don't go to bed too hungry.

Swimming twice a week at Hathersage open air pool and doing two Pilates classes. Feeling slimmer and my clothes are definitely fitting better or even too loose! Will try to resist scales until next week and then hoping for some good news.

Well, this is my first day... of the rest of my life!

My brother has been doing fasting for years for health benefits only (he's skinny, and always has been!). Lately though, with all the hype surrounding it, I've decided to read up and see what it's all about and can't WAIT to live longer!

Everything makes perfect sense; I  the science behind it all! :geek: ...And, of course, I'm hoping to lose a bit of weight into the bargain!!

Good luck to all the others starting their fasts today! ...And no stuffing our faces tomorrow - This is a eating plan for the rest of forever, so it's back to normal, until the next time! ...

Something I have noticed is that before 5:2 my husband was always complaining that the treats had all gone before he got a look in. Namely a bar of chocolate or a cake, would be bought and his share would be eaten within hours, before he decided he fancied it, 3 days later. In other words he has a normal relationship with food, sugary, treat foods are just that treats.

Now, I have a cupboard of treats, bars of chocolate, mini muffins, biscuits. Talking about biscuits, I used to have to BAN biscuits from the house because I didn't have any control over biscuits. Open the packet and I would eat the whole packet, to myself, dunking them in tea and whoosh, 10 minutes later they were gone 700kcal+. Half the time I didn't remember or realise I was eating them. But now, there are 6 packets of biscuits in the house, I have eaten 4 biscuits in the last week, four individual biscuits, not four packets in the last week.. This would have been unheard of in the past. We have had to stop buying in...
