Well here we go. Day 1. Feeling extremely positive and excited . Very tired as I didn't sleep much last night. Was so excited about starting my new life. My plan today is to have 2 meals leaving the first until early afternoon and then dinner tonight with my other half. Going to have chicken fajitas tonight minus the wraps ie a chicken stir fry. Have done lighter life before so know what it is like to live on 500 calories. This time only need to do 1 day at a time.looking forward to not worrying about what I eat. I have been trying to lose weight for about 20 years. Tried every diet there is. Lighter life was great. I lost about 5 stone but it piled straight back on. Started my latest effort at the beginning of the year, hoping to lose 4 stone in time for my daughter's wedding in September. I have lost about a stone but hate counting all the time.

I started this diet after continuously chopping and changing my calorie intake in order to maintain a weight of between 11 and half stone and 12 stone, after reaching my peak weight of 19 stone back in 2011.
Prior to starting this diet, I had done an experiment to see if I could get away with increasing my calorie intake without any weight gain and I had done a similar experiment not long beforehand, only to discover that I had gained two pounds during the first week of that experiment. That was fine at that time because it takes time for the body to adjust to any calorie increase in a traditional calorie controlled diet and will try to hang onto what it can. However, I then gained another pound of weight during the following week and that told me that I really was eating too many calories which meant that it was time to abandon that experiment.
After losing that weight over the following few weeks, I then repeated this experiment once more before starting the 5:2 diet and this time,...

I knew I'd had a good week, and now I've only got 6lbs to go to my target. I'm conscious of not losing too much weight as it makes me look ill, but I think my target will be just right.
I'm going to visit Primarni today to pick up some cheap trousers that fit. I'm seeing some people tomorrow who I haven't seen for a while and want to look as good as I feel

The walk I have been wondering about for months; is it too much for me at 61, 17 miles from Garsdale Station to Kirkby Stephen station over Mallerstang, High Seat, High Pike Hill and Nine Standards Rigg. 2990 feet of ascent.
As a warm up I walked 14 1/2 miles of the South Tyne Trail from Alston to Haltwhistle on the old rail track. This was mostly flat and gently downhill as Alston is the highest market town in England and Haltwhistle Isn't. Hot sunny day. Then, as it was a while since I have climbed a biggish fell, I tried Garsdale to Kirkby Stephen over Swarth Fell and Wild Boar Fell, 12 miles and 2390 feet. Perfect weather with welcome breezes on the tops, took me just over 5 hours. So, with husband on standby in case I missed the 16:29, I left the Settle bound platform of Garsdale station at 09:03 and reached Kirkby Stephen station 6 hours and 20 minutes later after the most fantastic day, much helped by the dry weather and springy turf not squelchy bog underfoot. Can a Senior...

Another Fast day passes by and it was Mr LJ's turn for the brain hunger this time! I had no sympathy as he has one hundred calories more than me - well maybe a bit of sympathy
I was frozen by the time lunchtime rolled around, and it was later than I normally have it because I was looking for insurance on T'internet, I am sure if you have done this you know what an entertaining and stimulating task that is....or are you like me and just end up choosing the first one you looked at after two hours comparing?
Anyway, for lunch I had a tin of tuna with a small scoop of extra light mayo and a tin of spiced pumpkin soup, 299 calories, followed by a yoghurt at 99 calories. My total for the day was 502 calories and I managed to get the long walk in despite wind, rain, and a big sign warning that the path was closed due to roadworks, it wasn't because I kept going anyway and the workers were sitting...
