Over the last few years, I've had knee and foot problems and have fallen...made me afraid to move fast! I'd see old ladies with walkers inching along and shudder that would be my fate. But not until I found this WOL did I believe that I could lose weight and get active again. I am SO grateful to 5:2 and this forum...I've become a little annoying, I'm so excited to share this with others. I suppose my success will be the best testimony; when they see me losing a LOT of weight, and keeping it off, they will be intrigued. I've started walking again, four days now...and I did a lot of walking on Saturday (beach/low tide, and farmer's market), and we had to park a long ways away, no problem with the walking as it would have been just a couple of months ago. I'm BAACCCKKKK!

Went to bed early last night as very tired. A better night but still not good but I do have a lot on my mind at the moment. It is probably an unsettled mind rather than a hungry tummy. Certainly having an evening meal on fast day means I am not hungry over night. Have had my normal breakfast now and feel very full. My mission now is to eat less than normal today.
Off to agility again to try a new group that has more big puppies in like Bruno. Means paying for a second one this week but we have to get this sorted.
One of my chicks escaped from the brooder. Worried me at first when I realized one was missing. Not sure how it managed to get out but found it cowering in a corner, probably cold away from the lamp. All ok now and back together. Still nothing from the incubator. Two broody ducks now sitting on eggs so hope something comes of that. I have several people wanting chicks and ducklings!
Will have time with daughter and grandson this afternoon which will be good. Hope to be able to...

Well yesterday I did - twice. On a Ramblers walk, we first stopped at one tea shop and I bought a slab of ginger cake, drank green tea and waited till my window opened at 2, ate a Babybel so as not to start off with carbs, and then had the ginger cake.

The group arrived at the pick-up point early, so after more Babybel and a boiled egg, I found myself in a tea shop with an older lady and we treated ourselves to a piece of coffee and walnut gateau (wonder why it did not occur to us to share?)

I think this counts as social eating, which I do not do often, so although cake = Sugar and flour (don't care about the fat) which I generally avoid, I did not stress about it.

This morning I was 3 pounds lighter. Therefore cake is diet food. No, rubbish of course it isn't. What this illustrates is that my body does not do instant feedback, so I don't panic if I plateau or gain, as I did last week.

I don't believe in calories in, calories out so I have a different paradigm to keep me motivated....

Have I turned a corner ?
At last today being my second fast of week 3 and actually sailed through it ! If it remains like this from now on then the idea of it being a life time implementation is no longer scary ! Did at times have some hunger pangs but more importantly remained feeling energised and no light headed spells due to calorie crisis's I really hope that after a lifetime of my body eating when hungry is now getting use to this new experience . Will weigh in tomorrow morning , not expecting miracles but its not a sprint , it's a marathon that I am sure I can see to the end ! Ate 3 times , porridge for breakfast 100 cals , mushroom soup for lunch 100 calories and tuna stir fry for tea 300 calories ! Actually all felt quite adequate ! Now can look forward to the weekend with cream cakes and chocolate ... I'm joking but maybe a takeaway and a few glasses of wine (-:

So yesterday was my 5th fast day (unplanned, but it worked out great). I've been pleasantly surprised just how much I like doing fast days!
My problem with weight and food has been a life-long problem which got much worse after I had children. My ideal would be to purely eat for fuel and not have have such an obsession about grub!!
Anyway, I find that towards the end of fast days I start to think about all the things I'm going to eat the next day. Usually, I don't start piling into the food the next day so it's not a problem. But last night, there were some leftover cooked sausages from my son's dinner and I started to think about having an egg mayonnaise and sausage sandwich the next day (today). I even boiled up two eggs in preparation.
So, this morning comes and I don't feel like eating (as usual after a fast day)but the two prepared eggs and sausages are in the fridge and 'need to be eaten up' (this is definitely a mind-set I need to get out of).
The bread in...
