Went to a friend's daughter's party today with my little one and a lady I haven't seen since Christmas said how I have lost a lot of weight and look slimmer! I mentioned the 5:2 diet and she seemed intrigued. I have lost 6lb since I started fasting 2 weeks ago and it's the first time I have looked in the mirror and not felt embarrassed at how I look - it's as if my old healthy self is returning.
Gone from 11 stones 5 to 10 stones 13! Goal weight is 10 stone!

I must admit now to myself and the world that I ate and drank all the bad stuff this week. A whole bunch of chocolate bars, ice cream, lot of cheese. Cheese is good for me, but 300 grams is a day is way too much. Peanut butter. Cookies (and I have a gluten intolerance, which caused a big "bathroom situation") Booze, which was rum, straight up and a bottle of wine over 2 evenings, beer. Fish and chips at a restaurant (I didn't even consider a salad). Maybe more, but you get the drift.
Why? I could probably get down into my mode swings and figure it out. But it doesn't really matter. Bad emotions took over and got me to the cupboard and refrigerator. I am old enough to know better. But I am a closet, secret eater when the dark emotions come around.
Today is a new day. The sun is shining and temperatures should be warm all week.
This week I will make better eating choices.
This week, I will get the income taxes done. (Due on Tuesday, but we have been late before)
This...

So today was my second fast of the week. I did my fast very different today and I felt the difference because I was much hungrier during the day.

Usually I like to have a hot drink in the morning and then save all my calories till dinner after I put the kids to bed and I can sit down and enjoy my meal. The evening meal is usually a big plate of cooked vegetables.

Today I started off my day with tea and 2 oz low-fat milk (28 calories) and then I needed to eat something because I'm back on antibiotics this week for a persistent sinus infection and I have to take them with food, so I had a clementine (35). Then I went to work where I had half a tomato (11).

Went straight from work to pick up the kids (walked, of course) and I was so hungry all the way home, dreaming of all the things I would not be eating today. I cooked up some macaroni for DD but didn't touch it (yay, me!) DS's baby cereal was less enticing ...

I've got another half a pound to go and I'll have lost a stone. A stone! Previously I hadn't been able to lose weight at all, maybe an odd pound would go, to be replaced with more a bit later!

I'm in the routine now of fasting on Mondays and Fridays, I keep busy and apart from a groaning belly late morning I'm coping pretty well. I don't go mad on non-fasting days, but I'm never hungry.

I bang the 5:2 drum to everyone I see who says, wow you've lost weight! I'm going to need new clothes as all my work trousers are falling off now, but what a lovely sacrifice to make  A new set of clothes for my birthday in 5 weeks time :victory:
