For the first time I feel really comfortable with a diet. I have been on diet for almost all my adult life, hope I can walk to the end of my weightloss goal which is 68 kilo .
I do have problems with Underactive Thyroid, but I do get medicine.
First 2 weeks on 4:3 have been more easy that I could even imagine, before I started this. Lost 3,3 so I am really thrilled
Before I started this diet, I was on a low calorie diet consuming only about 1000-1100 a day, sometimes even lower just to loose a few pounds.
Since january 2013 I have lost 10,0 kilo ( 22 lbs ) .

So I did my second fast yesterday. I lost 3 pounds on my first fast and another 1 on my second. 4 pounds in 4 days is absolutely fantastic! My skin is smoother and I feel healthier and better about myself already.
I also decided to do my fast day at work and see if I survived it. Honestly, I was absolutely fine. A bit of a rumbly stomach but otherwise good. I work in retail and I'm on my feet all day. I go from running around moving heavy stock to standing at the till on a quiet hour with no distractions, so I was worried. I was convinced that I'd get dizzy and ill, as I used to feel dizzy if I didnt eat, but I'm so pleased that I felt ok. It just goes to show that a lot of physical symptoms can just be in your head.
My body can handle a lot more than I thought it could.
I'm so happy I made the decision to start this WOE. Actually excited for my next fast day because I know I can do it!

Well, it shouldn't have "had to happen" - but it did - an evening of real overindulging.
Lots of contributing factors I think. Already "fed-up" with my challenge, despite a good first week. Not wanting to fast. Bored. Tired. Watching too much TV and trying to keep awake. Poor lighting so couldn't colour in as a distractor. Deciding that I needed (????) to break the chocolate drought...
The daytime was fine, eating wise and otherwise. Had brekkie mid morning (muesli, yoghurt, egg) and latish salmon salad lunch -without too many trimmings as we were going out for afternoon tea, where I did have bread and butter pudding (not as nice as my own!!). I enjoyed it though, and it didn't make me want to eat any more sugar (at that stage??). OH wanted dinner earlyish as we were testing the new BBQ and it still gets dark early (daylight saving next weekend - yay!). I wasn't really hungry but of course managed the steak, BBQ potatoes, carby veg and salad.
That was all fine, and...

I would like to thank Dr M, not only for introducing me to the 5:2, but also for his programme on parasites last night - it stopped me from eating a cake that was calling my name very loudly from the fridge
I managed to keep under my TDEE yesterday so I'm happy with that, I don't see that I will have a weight loss to report this week, but it's an ongoing process now. A Fast day today so good luck to all who are doing that too.
All together now Michael "There's a worm at the bottom of the garden, and his name is Wiggly Woo...."

OK, so here's the plan! I've decided that as a) day 1 went so well b) I have a large amount to lose and c) with food I'm a 'can't stop once I start' type I'm going to start my fasting career with alternate day total fasting - HARDCORE!!!!!!
I'm hoping to keep this going for a while to kick start things and then ease back onto 5:2.
The huge benefit to this is absolutely zero calorie counting (something I hate even more than not eating!) and planning - bottle of san pelegrino and earl grey tea bags and I'm hot to trot for the day.
I'm not going to be a slave to alternate days - if a planned fasting day happens to be a day I'm asked to eat out then I'll go and just fast the next day and carry on from there. Simple? Let's hope so!!
