I have just completed my 6th fast day and managing fairly well. I hit around 550 calories today so getting closer to the magic 500 but not quite there.

Feeling fine overall and the hunger during fasting has diminished with each fasting day completed. But (Sorry to be graphic) I have not been to the toilet for FIVE DAYS NOW!!! :frown: I"m usually very regular ie at least daily. Im eating tonnes of veg & fruit along with copious amounts of water so  My food consumption overall is reduced, even on feast days as Im tending to need less & what I am eating is healthy.

Is anyone else suffering the same & what remedies are you employing?

Im going to keep this blog to record how I do whilst following the 5:2 diet and also my daughter can also see whats going on while shes a uni..shes also going to follow the plan, so a bit of moral support for each other and probably a bit of competition.... well we are both quite competitive! !

Anyway onwards and upwards ( or downwards if we are talking weight  )

Hello All!

After a bit of a hiccup the week before last due to a pre-Mothers Day jaunt with lovely daughter, I have got back on track in a big way and lost the pound I gained plus another 1.5! It is not just the eating side that is helping - I am really enjoying exercising (never thought I'd say that!) and I mix this up between kettlebells, jogging, walking and exercise DVDs (mainly JM 30-day shred) if wet.

So my weight loss is 12 pounds in 3 months since New Years Day, leaving me just 2.5lbs to go in the 3 remaining weeks of @pennyforthem 's Easter Challenge, and about 7 pounds to goal (depending on how I feel when I get there).

I am thinking of compiling a list of all the delicious food I've eaten since going back on the 5:2. Yesterday, for example, I had a 2-course Thai restaurant lunch - how many diets would allow such behaviour?! But in the evening I was still full so just had a light snack ...

My fast went pretty well yesterday. Apart from a couple of gherkins, I lasted til dinner - steak and roast/steamed veg, followed by the usual frozen orange (this is such a great dessert for me, takes ages to eat and better than any water ice). I did also have one piece of choccie, some cheese and a few Brazil nuts. Happy with that as I did feel hungry. As I have mentioned, I am not trying to restrict to 500 cals on fast days, just fast as long as possible then eat sufficient food to not be hungry at bedtime.

Felt pretty hungry this morning, and did have some cheese as well as my usual brekkie. Having a coffee now but still only mid morning. May need to have lunch early...

Has been very wild and windy, with a bit of rain, but the sun is trying to peek out...

Well, I told myself if I made it to this point, I'd see if it was worth staying on and doing. It is. :like:
12 weeks in, 11.8# down. Couple of points down on the BMI. Needing a belt and moving to the 4th notch from the first. Better blood glucose readings, more energy and I'm wearing some clothes that were just a bit tight at Thanksgiving (Nov 2013). As much as I kept saying I liked it, it was great, I didn't really believe it would work for me, in my heart of hearts, I figured it would be another in a string of "try it diets" that would leave me too hungry, too deprived, too frustrated to continue. I'm not there, so I'll give it another 12 weeks - one week at a time, two fasts a week - and see how it goes, I'm thinking it will go well - if all of you are evidence of what I have to...
