Am very excited to be starting this new way of eating  not only because of the weight loss aspect, but the longer term health benefits too. I didn't see the Horizon programme (darn!) but a very good friend of mine has lost 2 stone following the 5:2 protocol and she looks amazeballs! :victory:

I've had a bit of a dodgy past with food. I had poor body image, starting during my early teens, when I was self-conscious about my height as I was tall for my age, but then as one of the first girls in my year to develop hips and boobs I became very dysmorphic. From the age of 15, I suffered from an eating disorder, with the worst peak around the age of 18.

At the age of 23 I was lucky to have met (and since married) a fantastic man who has enormously helped me with my own body image. Whilst I've gained...

Hi!
i really love this website it's full of information and helpful people :D

Decent into being obese...

OK well a little about me, I have always been the fat girl in my class, My biggest problem is being a binge eater steadily gaining weight every year till my junior year in which i started dropping weight like crazy. I had joined take off pounds sensibly as well as jogging in the mornings with my recruiter for the military. Then i had a accident and hurt my knees. With my inability to do anything that would put strain on my knees, when even walking sometimes was a problem because they could and have given out and made me fall. So my hopes and dreams of the future disappeared, and depression sank in. Along with my depression i had problems at home so moved out and got married to the first guy that paid attention to me. Three years later i had gained all my weight back and more and i have...

Awesome day yesterday - stuck to plan, resisted temptations, consumed a mere 524 calories (I weighed and measured everything).
So, my first completely successful fast was Wed 4/17, and second was yesterday, Thurs 4/25, not exactly 5:2, but I'm working on it.
Scale reflects a total loss of 5.6 lb (2.54kg). I don't want to get overly confident, I weigh daily (it's a habit I have already tried breaking in the past, and may try again) and the scale can give me several different numbers depending on - who knows what. But this mornings number was the higher of three tries, so I'm using that to be on the safe side.
I've already broken my fast this morning with bacon, eggs and bulletproof coffee (coffee with 1T Kerrygold butter, 1T MCT oil, 2T heavy cream) - around 550 calories. The fat alone should last me till late this afternoon! Mmmmmm.

Last Monday consisted of yet another binging day where I ate a lot of chocolate in the afternoon, and then consumed some lager at night. However, I was now finding that my stomach was feeling really uncomfortable after those binges, and that my weekly binges were no longer such a good idea after all. It was at that point where I then had thoughts of doing a complete 36 hour fast on Tuesday. I wasn't too sure about that at first, but I then sent a post on this forum on this subject and after reading all of the replies to that, I decided that this was not such a good idea at this time, as the alcohol content from the previous night could result in quite a massive drop in sugar levels.

Because of that, Tuesday therefore became just a normal 600 calorie fast day although I didn't eat anything on that day until my evening meal which then consisted of some grilled fish with salad and brown rice. That was preceded by a cup of instant soup and I had a piece of fruit and some green tea with that....

Was nervous about standing on the scales this morning. I would prefer to never weigh again as they are a very strong symbol of dieting. But hey ho these things have to be endured. 1kg off this month, a measly one despite all my fasting. Next, measure the waist....well knock me down with a whatsit....11cms off! That is huge. Explains why waistbands are bigger. If I could get rid of my tum too that would be good. It is getting smaller though. So I am now 75kg, a bit nearer goal and further away from the 80kg I was rapidly approaching. So I am happy. This is working and I will continue with 4:3 and eat what I want on the other days. If I keep losing like this by the end of the year I will be under 70kg. Happy days.
Off to have my breakfast now.
