Well, as Moogie has so kindly set up this blog facility, I thought it was my duty as a moderator to check it out! Where to start? At the beginning of my 5:2 journey I suppose.

It was late October and I was standing on the side-lines watching my son playing in a soccer match when one of the other mums commented that she had been fasting regularly but it had not seemed to have improved her memory though she had lost weight.
"Hang on" I said, "back up a bit. What do you mean lost weight, improved memory?"
"Oh" said she, "did you not see the Horizon programme by Michael Mosley about fasting?"
"Er, no, tell me more."

So she ran through the general principles and I was immediately intrigued...a diet plan that might...

...yay, managed my fast with no problem. Started the day thinking I would not bother as wanted to eat. Gave myself a talking to and knuckled down. Every time I was tempted I told myself, no, have it tomorrow. For the first time I slept well last night.
My attitude is slowly changing and hopefully my weight will do the same. I refuse to get bent out of shape about my weight and am very much focusing on the health benefits. I now weigh just once a month and hope next month to approach the scales without fear!
I hope I am now settled with 4:3 and will stay with this for the foreseeable future. I am helped enormously by fellow fasters on here and for this I thank you all.

I know its after a fast day but I am now 11st 12.6 lb! Down from 12st 7lb on November 11th. I am very happy with that and am much better with my eating between fast days. I hope that this continues. I was busy yesterday and that helped greatly.

I stumbled across the Michael Mosley documentary and was convinced by the arguments that this could be just the thing I need. Seeing the new slim Michael with his lowered blood glucose levels was a huge recommendation. Type II diabetes runs in my family and my apple shape certainly makes it look like I could head that way.

I decided on Wednesday and Friday as fast days. I was nervous about the fasting but actually found it doable. Having read other people's experiences I knew hunger was transient and that helped me keep out of the biscuit tin. I found soup to be a great lunch food and I could then have a kiddy sized portion of dinner. The fact that the next day was a feast day certainly made it easier. What I was expecting is I didn't wake up the next day starving. I had a normal breakfast of cereal, milk and yoghurt but simply enjoyed it rather than devoured it.

I was 74kg when I started and am now 73.3 kg which I'm more than happy with. On calorie restricted diets my weight has just...
