I am very worried about my youngest. She is 12 years old and is severely disabled. She is on the waiting list to have VNS surgery for epilepsy.
I lost 1lb this week. 11lb in 4 weeks.
I am taking a few weeks off from 5:2. If I put weight on, I know it will come back off once I return.

Yesterday, I blogged about feeling rubbish after having only eaten rubbish food. Today, I feel MUCH better having stuck to a proper fast day - just worked out I've had only liquids since 6pm yesterday. I've got a lovely salad to look forward to later - lots of green leaves, tomatoes, chickpeas, peppers etc.

This made me do some thinking - this blogging lark is an attempt to be mindful of the 5:2 process.

On previous diets, if I had a rubbish day like yesterday I'd think 'Oh, what's the point! I can't diet - no will power' and slip back into unhealthy eating patterns. On this regime, my mindset seems to be altering. Rubbish food yesterday - okay, not great but I can fast today and undo the damage, getting back on track. It's a 'no biggie' shrug rather than a collapse into calorific despair.

I find that really interesting! (Wonder if any other 5:2ers feel the same way?)

I also noticed that the refined carbs yesterday made me feel lethargic and sleepy. Today, on a fast, I feel quite lively...

I guess being patient and just keeping on has worked; despite Thanksgiving in the mix, I finally lost 2.2 lbs at today's weigh in. Sure, I say that weight loss is only one "side effect"--but it's a nice one! Sure helps with the motivation to keep going. Note that I'm weighing in only once a month (first Friday).

I rode horses, madly and wildly through the Australian bush land. We would gallop down fire trails, through scrub, race along beaches and jump fallen gum trees.

So many times I fell off.

So many times I got back on.

As an adult I seem much more fearful of the getting back on.

We all come a-cropper at some point in our lives, relationally, diets, work, family, home life.

Whatever you are struggling to get back on today. Let me say, you can do it. We can do it.

Let's make up our minds together to race wildy, ride freely and jump courageously through the obstacles of our week.

Well I survived my first fast! I felt so energised yesterday, and I slept amazingly well. There were points in the day that my tummy did rumble but I felt so proud of my self control and empowered to continue! I really think that planning what I was going to eat was beneficial. I am so thankful for the forum as everyones advice really helped! Looking forward to my next fast and the rest of my weightloss journey. Have chosen Mondays and Thursdays as my fast days and if anything crops up I will just adjust those
