Hello All!

After a bit of a hiccup the week before last due to a pre-Mothers Day jaunt with lovely daughter, I have got back on track in a big way and lost the pound I gained plus another 1.5! It is not just the eating side that is helping - I am really enjoying exercising (never thought I'd say that!) and I mix this up between kettlebells, jogging, walking and exercise DVDs (mainly JM 30-day shred) if wet.

So my weight loss is 12 pounds in 3 months since New Years Day, leaving me just 2.5lbs to go in the 3 remaining weeks of @pennyforthem 's Easter Challenge, and about 7 pounds to goal (depending on how I feel when I get there).

I am thinking of compiling a list of all the delicious food I've eaten since going back on the 5:2. Yesterday, for example, I had a 2-course Thai restaurant lunch - how many diets would allow such behaviour?! But in the evening I was still full so just had a light snack ...

My plan is to give this a reasonable chance: a solid 2 months.
I've already given up most carbs (sugar, starch, most dairy), and have been trying my best to follow a clean paleo diet for the past few months. I have had a few setbacks where I yielded to temptation (usually sugar: ice cream is an all or nothing deal for me) and I need something to get my body syncronized or something.
Saw the BBC program recently, and thought I could try this. I wasn't going to get the book, but I know me, I love to have written direction.
So after thinking over and over about when I would start, today happened to be it. Mind you, I have an elderly mother with dementia here at home that I need to either cook for or supervise meal preparation. She gets my dieting, so that's one less hurdle.
Started the morning with my coffee (it's a 50/50 blend of regular and decaf), 2 cups over a 3 hour period, with a total of 5 Tbsp of HWC between the two (260 calories).
Planning ahead, for dinner...

The journey so far has been manageable. Thursday was a non-fast day. I had thought I would get my hunger pangs at the same time but not at all. I had lunch as usual. It was not as healthy as it could be as I had Laksa fried rice. I was stuffed just eating a little of it. Come dinner time, I was supposed to eat left over and I did not manage to eat normally. Just a small amount as I was not that hungry. No space to fill. I forced to eat a small amount of food before bedtime as it’s a fasting day on Friday and I really want it to work and not cave in and sabotage it.

Then there is a matter of moving my ass. I shall admit early on that I am lazy. I love nothing more than play dead on the sofa after dinner. There are times when the kitchen looks like a war zone as I am dead on sofa. I said to myself I have 2 option. I could either do what I usually do and make excuses and stay where I was or I could move. I did not set a distance just a starting route and see what it will bring me. As I s...

Okay, so here goes!

Today at midday I finished my 36 hour liquids fast. It was tough and I was really hungry all morning, but I feel good at having done it. I had sushi for lunch, a muesli bar in the afternoon but then I have had some low-fat icecream and pasta for dinner. Yikes! I'm allowing myself to munch on some sesame snaps while I study but that is IT for today! No more, Fredi!

Thinking of fasting again tomorrow. I'm going to dinner on Sunday and taking dessert which I'll be making tomorrow afternoon, so that will be a real exercise in restraint. It will make me feel better about eating a bit more on Saturday night. I've chosen to make coconut ice and toffee drops which are more sugary than fatty, but I'm going to try and stop myself from eating too much. Wish me luck!

I still despise daily weighing, but I have stuck with it this week. I did 3 bulletproof style fasts and dropped 4lb's. However I did go back to my 'old' way of eating - mostly paleo (low carb), with only one day a week as a carb re-feed. No grains. Also now fully embraced the Californian lifestyle and given up the booze. I think a combination of all of this things has given me a kick start. For those of you who don't know what bulletproof is - its here https://www.bulletproofexec.com/how-to- ... rning-too/
