So here I am back at FASTDAY. I now have a major incentive - I am getting married in 12 weeks time. It will be a very tiny wedding but I still want to look nice. I have 19lbs to loose - I will settle for 12. I think 1lb a week is realistic and, if I do better that will be a bonus. So, what do I have to do to achieve this? I suppose the obvious answer is burn more calories than I take in. So, how am I going to do that? 5:2 of course! Also, when I was successfully loosing weight with 5:2 I also did 16:8, meaning no eating between 8.00pm and 12.00 am. Which basically means no breakfast.

I have also got to change what I am eating - I am drinking very little alcohol at the moment and it would be good to cut that down even further. I am also eating far too much chocolate and sweet things - so I will make a real effort to cut that down.

We are currently in between houses which does not help - hopefully we will be in our new home within a month but I must not use this as an excuse....

So with the wedding planning, two dance recitals and trying to find a new job I have been really stressed out. This morning I woke up with a horrible cough and head cold and am also suffering with pms.
Fasting was pretty easy today. I had nothing all day other than coffee(90 total) and one large apple (100).
When I got home I had three egg whites with spinach (60)
Half a left over sweet potato with a couple spoonfuls of leftover rice(130)
One English muffin(120)
A few strawberries (50)
~550

OK, so here's the plan! I've decided that as a) day 1 went so well b) I have a large amount to lose and c) with food I'm a 'can't stop once I start' type I'm going to start my fasting career with alternate day total fasting - HARDCORE!!!!!!
I'm hoping to keep this going for a while to kick start things and then ease back onto 5:2.
The huge benefit to this is absolutely zero calorie counting (something I hate even more than not eating!) and planning - bottle of san pelegrino and earl grey tea bags and I'm hot to trot for the day.
I'm not going to be a slave to alternate days - if a planned fasting day happens to be a day I'm asked to eat out then I'll go and just fast the next day and carry on from there. Simple? Let's hope so!!

Hi guys

Did not get a chance to blog yesterday but I did max out on calories as I ended up having a pie and chips after work as worked late. Still been more controlled today and have decided to have my fast days on a Wednesday and Sunday. Wednesday is a good day as I work all day and can manage on Soup and a light evening meal. Sunday I can concentrate on having a nice roast dinner, loads of veg, a little chicken breast with around 100g new potatoes dry roasted.

Have been planning tomorrow's meals too, Planning a nice wholesome chicken casserole cooked in the slow cooker for my dinner. Not worked out calories but trying to stay within 1500 on non-fast days.

Anyway, feeling much better in myself that I am regulating some form of control over my eating habits. I, like most, love my food, enjoy home cooking rather than ready meals, although a trip to Iceland today has supplied my freezer with some necessary WW ready meals as standbys.

Anyway, I am going for a nice relaxing bubble...

When I stepped on the scales this morning I was willing them to say 9 stone 2 lbs. I have been 9.3 for a few weeks and wondered if this was my happy weight. It was the weight the Atkins site recommends for me and the lowest weight I got to on the Patrick Holford diet a few years back, so I thought mind-over-matter might keep me there.

Now I am wondering why the sudden drop; nothing changed with my eating and I am into week 6 of my challenge to up my exercise. Perhaps that is it; it takes much longer for any changes to kick in than we imagine. I am aware that there are arguments that say that exercise does not help much with weight loss, but for me it seems to eventually - and I do eat more the day I do a 10 mile walk than a 5k walk/jog and that is perfectly natural and I go with it.

I am thinking more about my maintenance strategy, only 6 pounds at most or getting to my Fastiversary in August, whichever comes first, and I will have to slam the brakes on. It will be Fast-5 or a modification...
