Hello Everyone,

I started the 5:2 way of life just over a year ago and I have had great success on it. I did it for 5 months, lost 12kg in total and decided to maintain my weight at that level for the rest of the year. I did this by keeping active and doing the odd fast day.

I had an amazing year, I can run faster, jump higher and I did a Half marathon and I feel great. Oh and I also look better!

Recently I have been getting more into sports and this year I want to be fittest, most healthy me, I can be. Now there is a mission statement!

Today is my first day starting back on 5:2 proper. I just love setting goals and for those of you interested my first goal is to Lose 3kg by 9th of April (I go to New York with my Partner) Whoop! After that I want to lose another 3kg - but I will re-assess when I hit my first goal.

My second goal is to run a marathon in September. Not off to a good start as I hurt my knee (IT Band) jogging last Monday and after resting it all week, I hurt it again...

Well, the dementia team went to see dad yesterday. They listened to what I had said and wrote down the questions so were able to start doing the assessment. It is not finished and the next part will be done with my daughter present as she is his main carer. It is likely that we will have to pay for extra services but at least he will be on someones radar. Also, at last his condition can be measured. I am trying to stop him keep getting the bus into town as he is finding it increasingly difficult to manage. I have also had to stop his access to the bank due to making poor financial decisions. I have the power of attorney. My daughter will now do all his shopping and we have set up an account with a mini cab firm to take him to and from the weekly RAF club and trips to the library. My daughter will give him weekly pocket money for incidentals. He is visited by a lovely man from Age UK every other week and I am looking at arranging for someone to take him out for coffee and a bun the weeks...

Is today and the second fast this week. I have had to eat already as I was a bit wobbly after the gym this morning so I had a scrambled egg with a spoon of coconut milk in it. Much better now.

I went over my TDEE yesterday which will be the second time this week (I am assuming I went over last Saturday). Be interesting to see what the impact will be later this week. My weight is up a couple of points this morning and still higher than last Friday.

Calories 1800 (346 over)
Carbs 39% (120g - over target)
Fat 41% (56g - bang on target)
Protein 20% (63g - in range)

Breakfast was a small bulletproof coffee and a couple of slices of low carb pumpkin bread. Lunch was on the run as I was out and about so I had a slice of home made sugar free tea loaf.
We had friends over for dinner and this is where it all fell apart. One chicken tagine, cheese and biscuits plus a cocktail and wine, took me over my TDEE. The booze calories were 635. I need to learn a little more self restraint.....

 I started on the 5:2 back in April 2013 at 16st5  I got down to 15st5 by August and was well happy with myself, then after time off over the summer and op on my ankle and time off work with that I stopped on the 5:2 :curse:

So on the the 14 November 2013 I decided that it was time to start again, my weight had gone back up to 16st4 not happy, but after 10 days back on 5:2 I lost 4lb and thats 4lb I do not want to find.
Now in the second week and today is the second fast of the week , things are starting to feel good, no hunger pains just the thought of looking forward and seeing the weight come off again.
