So yesterday we fasted. The house was full of men, installing the solar hot water, doing the kitchen floor. I went through my usual afternoon ravenous hours. Had porridge for breakfast, and I think I'll do that in future on fast days. At dinner time we went out to a Chinese Restaurant, as the kitchen was out of bounds and the house smelt of poisonous chemicals. We chose short soup and followed with one serve between us of steamed duck and vegetables. And Chinese tea. I thought we should have removed the skin from the duck, but I couldn't bring myself to! It was probably more calories than we should have had, but OH remarked that had we not been 'fasting' we would have had rice, and we would have had two different dishes rather than sharing one between us. It was perfectly adequate and absolutely delicious!

About 5 days ago I weighed in at 130.6 a all time high for this year. Today I was 127, a 2.6 drop since just yesterday! I do know it will bounce back with fluids as it can't all be fat, mostly water loss. It does motivate me to keep going, to stay strong and to make healthy choices. I'm not hungry yet after yesterdays fast so am going to take advantage of the lower hunger and keep fasting until tonight.

For me intermittent fasting wol was the only way to get back to my pre 40s weight. Due to my age and size (I am just over 5ft 3") my TDEE is only around 1400cals. Having been slight in my youth with a fine bone structure I was dismayed to find my weight slowly creeping up over the years and finding myself unable to stop or lose the weight any more. The problem was, that I had been told NEVER to go below 1200 cals per day as the metabolic rate would drop and my weight would be even harder to control. This made losing weight for me very hard - it would take me two weeks to lose one pound provided I managed to stick to 1200 calories EVERY day for months and months on end. Such slow weight loss despite permanent calorie restriction is totally demotivating.

I started with 4:3 cutting my calories on three days down to 400 calories. I have reached my goal weight but will continue with the 5:2 wol because I so enjoy to eat like other (taller, younger) people and indulge once or twice...

I have completed another week with an additional 3 pounds down -- 167.6 to 164.6! When I typed that sentence I accidentally wrote 176 and 174. Apparently it hasn't quite hit me that I'm truly in the 160s (and entering the lower 160s at that)! At this point, I have lost a total of 9.2 lbs -- almost to my next sugar bag!!!

My lowest weight this week was 163.4!!! Oh my! Also, I love stepping on the scale and it blinks to lower numbers before settling on its final number. It means I'm getting closer!

Some fasting days are easy, some are incredibly hard. Not sure what makes the difference? But, really, I've just come to accept and expect that I'll feel hungry on a fast day. So long as I can get to my evening meal, I'll be fine. As I'm sure is the case for most people, it's more difficult if I'm at home on a fast day. On a work day, I have commuting and, well, work to keep me distracted. If I'm at home for fasting, it helps to have a project or just get out of the house altogether and run errands....
