I have not been able to stick to Fast-5 this week. I have been away from home holed up in a hotel meeting room with no windows for most of the week at a conference. I managed 16:8 for most of the week, but low carb was impossible and by the end of the week I had succumbed to the cookie monster, going stir crazy in the same room with the same people. A carb refeed is not supposed to be junk! So I'm feeling somewhat bloated today and there is little point in getting on the scales. My puffy face tells me everything I need to know. I'm doing a 2 day back to back bulletproof coffee fast to get back into a ketogenic state this weekend. I'm on my own with no commitments or interruptions. Perfect.
Last week I found some grass fed ground beef in the supermarket, so I seasoned it and split it up into patties so I have my own burgers in the freezer whenever I fancy one. Of course I tested one last week and it was absolutely delicious.

Phew! Not so bad although my dh invited friends over for a late supper - after I had eaten - and I had to watch while they dug into steak, potatoes and pie for dessert! I made it though. Thank goodness it was cherry pie (which I don't really like) If it had been apple, I might have been in trouble! I'm down a pound this morning - very happy about that especially since I've been enjoying a lot of Christmas treats. Now to more sensible eating and 2 days of fasting a week. I'm really hoping to make my Valentine Challenge goal - to be in the 140s. I have 7.6 pounds to go.

Eurgh I kinda ruined it. Well, not sure if I actually have or not but here's an update from the last 5 days. I had been away visiting family and ate and ate and ate. Even when I wasn't hungry I just ate! Cake, chocolate, cereal, big portions, chinese, nandos - everything. I felt so horrible though. Really bloated and my breath stunk. But still, I had done 2 fasting days that week so kinda stuck to the basic principles. My 5th fast day was today and was going fine. Apart from the fact I was having a pretty bad day, wasn't motivated in the slightest to do anything work wise or gym wise. And it didn't help that I couldn't even run 10 minutes. I have no idea what has been up with me. But I was doing well, had a salad for lunch and soup for tea, but then I worked out that I could have 8 match makers and still be within my calorie limit. So I had 8. And then a few more. And then a few more. And before I knew it the box was gone! I was on a rampage and I have no idea why. I had been craving chocolate...

I have never written a blog before, but felt it might be useful for keeping on track, and also to put down some tips that I've found helpful.
I first started 5:2 on 24th August 2012, about a fortnight after the Horizon programme. My weight was around 10 stone, far too much for my 5'0" body. By Christmas I had lost 12lbs and had high hopes for getting below the 9 stone barrier for the first time this century. However, then Christmas and a long, wonderful holiday in New Zealand happened, and when I returned in March 2013 I weighed 9st 5lbs. Not too bad considering, but then why, oh why didn't I get back on what is easily the best and easiest 'diet' I've ever done?
To cut a long story short, by January 1st this year I had gone back up to 10st 1lb. Time to take control.
As of last Friday (weigh-in day for the Easter Challenge) I was 9st 4lbs and I'm feeling great.
I do kettlebell class once a week (on a fast day!)and jog approx. 1.5 miles twice, and...
