As I end my 9th week of this WOE, I find myself attempting to re-assess my goals and how to achieve them.

My weight loss has begun slowing (having lost only 1.2 lbs in the past three weeks), and while I'm sure I can blame it on a bunch of things (overeating, eating the wrong kinds of things, constipation, hormones), it's normal with any weight loss program to slow down a bit. Now I must begin to practice patience.

As I'll be joining the Christmas 8-week challenge (10/30/2017-12/24/2017), I want to shift my mindset from weight loss to making sure I'm very clearly holding to the healthy habits that support that weight loss (both ones that I've already been practising and new ones).

LET ME BE CLEAR, I WANT VERY MUCH TO CONTINUE LOSING WEIGHT, AND QUICKLY AT THAT, BUT I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHAT WEIGHT MY BODY IS AT ON ANY GIVEN DAY OR WEEK. I ONLY HAVE CONTROL OVER WHAT I DO. SO I AM GOING TO FOCUS ON THAT. WHAT CAN I DO?

Hi -
I've done quite a bit of research and am excited to start on this new way of eating! I am mainly doing it to lose about 8 pounds that I've slowly put on over the past few years. I'm a 45 year old stay at home mom. I workout 5 days a week and for the most part, feel pretty healthy. I like what this plan has to offer in term of flexibility and am exciting to start. I'd like to keep my fast days to Mon & Thurs so here on day 1, I'm just trying to eat normally.

I'd love any support or advice from long-term fasters!

Ending my eighth week in this way of eating, and I'm delighted by my results! 16.4 lbs lost (which makes for a total of 25.8 lbs lost since last christmas!) and only 21.4 lbs to go to my goal. Nearly halfway there (more than halfway, if we're counting my pre-5:2 progress)! This coming week feels promising, as the scale 24 hours ago read almost 2 pounds lighter -- maybe I ate 2 pounds of food yesterday? lolol  And yet I feel thinner than I did yesterday, so go figure!

Which leads me to believe that I should also be using the measuring tape more often. I've heard stories of many others who find that one stalls while the other drops. I don't want to give up weighing. It's an amazing reminder every morning to renew my focus and efforts, no matter what it actually does.

I confess, these past few weeks...

It's happened, guys! I've transitioned into the 150's! Down 2.2 lbs this week along with a joyful dip down to 157 before popping back up to rest at 158.2. I can't express just how stellar I feel to be back down here. It's been far too long. Looking in the mirror is getting easier to do. I've noticed my face and shoulders are becoming more slender and angular -- being at my higher weights I was becoming extremely top-heavy with a bulky back, chest, and shoulders. Of course, I didn't get to keep all the nice fat I wanted to. At a healthy weight I tend to have a rather small, flat bottom and it was nice having some extra padding to fill out my rump and balance out my always-large rack. That lovely padding is now disappearing, but I admit I'm willing to sacrifice it for the rest of the progress I'm experiencing.

As a concern, my period was much more painful this cycle (though that might be due to not having taken my zinc for the five days leading up to it). My hormones are doing something...

Down 2.6 lbs this week (for a current weight of 160.4 lbs) after a rough week of plateau-ish numbers! Yaaaaay! It's funny, even though so many people mention that sudden drops happen after plateau, it's still rough when you're in one, even if it's only for 9 days. This will be a great reminder to myself to make it easier the next time it happens to keep the faith and follow the plan. The exciting part is that yesterday it was 160.0 and I got the chance to see the scale finally flicker into the 150's!!!

Soon enough the holiday season will begin and I'm trying to remain calm. Even though I now have this amazing tool in my arsenal to counteract extra goodies (which I've used successfully already to counteract special event eating), there's just going to be SO MUCH FOOD for two whole months..... I haven't figured out how to wrap my brain around it in such a way that I could be around all of that calorie-dense goodness without eating it ALL!

Lessons learned this week:
-Plateaus do end if...
