What started 2 weeks ago as "Let's give it a go and see what the hype is about" has turned out to be an eye opener...
I have hypothyroid for last 15 years now. I have tried running, pilates, gym and dieting ... but the extra 2 stones I have out on since the birth of my twins, just doesn't move .. (well it does but in the wrong direction)
And before I continue - let me say this - I love being physically active ie I am not a couch potato, but I HATE exercising. I have never reached the point where I run for fun or where I don't count the minutes as I run. And probably because of that attitude - I have never stayed motivated enough to continue exercising and therefore to start seeing the downward journey of the scales
2 weeks ago, hubby said I am going to do 5:2 - well.. he is within a healthy BMI - just! and I am definitely in the middle of overweight BMI ..
So - we gave it a go .. possibly doing...

I would never have considered writing a blog but since it is so easy here I will try starting one. Thanks Moogie! Especially since an initial good start on the 5:2 eating plan I have had a trerrible lapse this past week where I regained lots of my already shed weight. So blogging might help me sticking to it all again
As I had joined the forum on 8th Feb. I will copy some of what I have written before:
This is how I started:

I am so glad that I have come across this forum and the 5:2 diet.
After having tried to lose weight practically all my life (Cambridge, Atkins, WW, hormones, self-hypnosis...), this way of living just feels like a real revelation and a bright light at the end of a loooong dark tunnel where I had nearly given up fighting for a more healthy weight altogether.
I have completed my fifth fast yesterday and within two weeks I have lost
5,3 kgs, which is...

I started at 68.4 kilos this year. My target is to get to a healthy BMI with 55 kg.
This morning (after yesterday's fast), I'm 60.8 - getting so close now and it really looks feasible for me to get below 60kg, which I had previously given up any aspirations to, as it just didn't seem possible with exclusion diets or simple calorie counting.
By doing my BMR and understanding TDEE properly though, I now have a much better grasp of what my body really needs - a lot less than I thought! - and the fasting has helped so much as I don't snack any more and I feel full when I have had enough.
Loving that it has also re-inspired my cooking and got me on a rocket booster to writing my next cookbook!

Well the start of another new thing. New to 5:2 and new to blogging. Will be good to look back over my journey. I have finally found my place with regard to food and dieting. it has been a long journey with much mental anguish. This week I will only manage one fast but am happy with that. I no longer feel guilty about eating. My attitude to food has changed so much in a good way. It is taking a while to wean myself away from weight watchers but I did follow that regime for well over a decade. Although my BMI is still 27 I am generally happy where I am but want to improve my general health.
So a new journey begins.
So a new journey begins.
