Heavens - no apologies needed, John. I was just pulling your leg. Pretty sure you've not lost track of time that much!

But, that also led me towards fixing a typo which I previously hadn't spotted, so thanks for that.
How pretty, thanks Moogie, not something we get downunder here in Melbs on Christmas Day, although some times we get close!

Enjoy the Festive Season.

Given that the southern hemisphere is currently in the middle of its summer (with its summer solstice coming up on Saturday), I would be very surprised to see anywhere in Australia coming anywhere close to seeing snow at Christmas, especially since the north of Australia also lies within the tropics.
Actually, there was a slight error that I made above in the timing and date of this weekend's solstice. Just now, we are in the northern hemisphere winter (although the weather is not very much like winter just now) and so, the upcoming solstice will be our winter solstice here in the UK. That will happen on Saturday 21 December at 5:11pm GMT. Britain just now is using GMT, and the normal standard time for Melbourne is 10 hours ahead of GMT.

However, the southern hemisphere is currently in its summer, and that means that Melbourne is currently in its Daylight Saving Time which is a further hour ahead of GMT. That means that the time in Melbourne is currently 11 hours ahead of GMT. That in turn means that the exact point in time of that solstice in Melbourne will be at 4:11am on Sunday morning (22 December 2013) according to their current time zone, and not on Saturday as I had previously indicated.

However, that will be their summer solstice as Melbourne is in the southern hemisphere, and is currently in its summer. Six months later, the reverse will be true because we will then be in our summer as Melbourne then experiences its winter. At that point in time, we will then be using BST which is an hour ahead of GMT whilst Melbourne will have gone back an hour into its standard time zone. That means that Melbourne will then only be 9 hours ahead of our UK time.

I love the snow! I almost wish I could put it on every window in my 'puter :-)
I found how to make snow on my firefox, just have to find it for my computer now and the transformation will be complete
Well, this is an international forum but it is certainly not snowing in the southern hemisphere, so i find it a bit odd. It is summer here.
You know, I'd never thought about it until now, but what are Australian Christmas cards like? I'm guessing they're not covered in snow scenes, snowflakes & snowmen then?! :D
Getting used to the snow now..........not feeling sick and was wondering if you got it all sorted in the end @Moogie. I had an idea, and I don't have many of these so grab it while you can. The idea was to maybe just put the snow onto the top banner bit, down to the grey box?
Unfortunately the only decent snow script I could find didn't have an option to cut it off at a certain point of the page >.<;; The other one was outdated and slow. Nevermind!

I've figured out a better way to enable/disable it and should have that up and running in the next half hour or less.

Even in the middle of summer, the polar regions are still likely to get snow despite the fact that there is continuous daylight there at that time of year. As far as the southern hemisphere is concerned, that is likely to be the case in Antarctica and which is therefore a location in the southern hemisphere which will see snow at this time of year. It's probably It's just unlikely to be snowing in Australia at this time of year and even in their winter, there probably still aren't too many places in the southern hemisphere outside of Antarctica which will get a lot of snow since most of the southern hemisphere is made up of ocean (there are no major landmasses which lie as far south of the Equator as what we are to the north of the Equator here in Scotland), and that means that the major landmasses within the southern hemisphere tend to be closer to the Equator than what we are in Scotland.
 Well is it me or is the snow getting deeper :clover: Sue

come Christmas day we won't be able to find each other coz on my tablet its already covering up as I type brilliant
