We just discovered today that we are to have the meeting we've been expecting for a long time, about our restructure, phase 1, tomorrow morning, complete with union reps in attendence. This will involve about 8 -10 of us and we will know what the new posts will be, and whether or not we will have to apply for posts or be slotted in, and how many posts there will be. But our jobs definitely won't be the same, and there might not be enough jobs to go round.
This has been coming since 2010, when we were first told about review. Since then there have been two tranches of voluntary redundancies and early retirements. The review expected in 2011 has taken 2 years longer, and a change of management, to achieve, along with many other delays and false starts. In my case I felt the cold wind of job insecurity as far back as 4 years ago in November 2009, when my previous post was deleted, and I had to wait 4 months to have an alternative post offered.
So if you have any spare positive vibes (in @TML13's words) - lob them over in this direction tomorrow morning. Thanks.
