Delighted or Disappointed?

Hi Rix. Not much to add as everyone has given really good advise. Planning your meals on a fast day is a big help and gives you something to look forward to. The hunger doesn't get worse and fasting gets easier. I adore eating and am always thinking of my next meal so if I can fast I reckon anyone can!!
Just want to add - I found it really helpful to read through these posts from others on their experiences with this. You could spend some time doing that first if you are having trouble committing. Also, if you haven't been to the doctor lately to get cholesterol, BP, etc, etc, checked, you could do that in the meantime too. Sometimes, that's the "click". Good luck!
rix, I'm kinda going to go against everyone else who's saying "you've done well to even think about it even if you haven't done anything about it" - it will be tough love, OK?!

Your language is really interesting. You say you "thought about" doing a fast day. You will "try" to skip breakfast. You will "aim for" drinking more water. As you've found out, that just doesn't cut it! You're setting yourself up for failure. If you "try" and then don't manage it, you can then say to yourself "oh well, at least I tried." Not good enough. You need to DO.

So, tell yourself you WILL do a fast day. You WILL definitely skip breakfast. You WILL drink more water. Then you're simply not giving yourself an out. Losing and maintaining weight is 100% about desire. Which do you want more - to be healthy and weigh less, or to put that piece of chocolate cake in your mouth? You just have to want it more - clearly at the moment you don't want it enough. And, change your language.

See, told you it would be tough love!

It's definitely easier to make a start at this when you don't have guests around.

I've just spent the week with a guest around, every night at parties or restaurants. I did three fasts in restaurants this week. I doubt I kept to exactly 500 or below, but I did my best. It was hard! But I could tell myself - tomorrow I can eat more and have a bit of wine. I'm in my 9th week, so I was pretty relaxed about it (though nearly lost my mind at a party on Sunday surrounded by yummy food and wine--I had to leave finally)

I had alot of leftovers, too, so made some things and froze them.
I've found a lot of help on this forum - but the very word "fast" can sound scary, just too big to do! Think "low cal." instead!
Pick a day when you can be pretty busy, maybe doing something with the kids you enjoy, - having enjoyable distractions helps.
Also think about what low cal. foods and especially drinks you enjoy. Some really good recipes for soups on here, love the cream of celery for example. Different salads, not just boring lettuce and tomato! My daughter buys low cal tonic and bitter lemon, I like green tea and lemon. Build up a repertoire and plan ahead - that's the day I'm going to have a go!
By the way, daughter and I both do breakfast, 30g porridge oats in water, witha little sweetener.
Do you have a friend who'd join you? Try re-watching the original Dr M Tv programme!
I like repair day instead of fast day. Definitely take all the advice on here and have a go!
