that's ok :) you're right all those "healthy" foods have more cals than normal food, and the gluten free pastas and breads and snacks have way more than normal too! I dont eat those either...

But the Healthy foods are good for you, nuts and seeds are good, but you've got to watch the portion size :)

I hope it's undereating that's causing it, still cant get my head around eating too little calories that may be causing it but it looks like that may be the case.... but i will wait and see... if i figure it out i'll let you know :)

I regularly find that I stick at a weight for 2-3 weeks then lose a couple of pounds

Hi Sue, I can tell you from personal experience, that if you ate healthily before 5:2 (yet somehow ended up overweight) the weight loss is likely to be very slow. Like you, I was never a junk food addict, didn't really have a sweet tooth, kept the carbs low and steered clear of convenience foods in general.

If the weight has crept on over a long period of time, then it will likely come off at the same rate - but it will come off, you just need to be very patient and think long term.

I weigh daily. I am not actively encouraging this because some people can't handle the ups and downs. It is only by doing this though and taking weekly averages that I can see gradual weight loss (I'm talking maybe just 0.25 lb per week) due to the natural body weight fluctuations that can mask what is really going on.

I would be careful about eating more. I personally think this starvation mode thing is a load of rubbish. I have never eaten more and lost weight....

I have a low TDEE so need to keep my calories low most of the time otherwise I won't lose. You are probably in the same boat unfortunately. I try and balance it so I eat fewer calories during the week so I can eat more at weekends.

One thing that has helped me to do this is to follow 16/8 regime as well - so I now skip breakfast (which is something I have never done in the past) and try to keep lunches light (maybe around 300 cal). This gives plenty of calories to play with for dinner without going overboard and doesn't cut in to one's social life which is what it's all about.

Hang in there and good luck. Julie
