aka wet fish day. Got on scales this morning and I think one of the dogs must have got on behind me, because it wasn't pretty. I immediately got the wet fish out of it's box and it's a low cal day for me. Have been having no restrictions for 2 weeks and it's gotten away from me. So back to discipline. Anyone joining me?
I'll be joining you in a fast...but not until I've bean to bed...Night night!
Me too GMH and Bean! After ive slept
Lets make it a great fast day, putting our bods in for repair! :like:  xx
Read this today..( Ive read similar before but i can never read enough of the good that fasting does..
Sometimes we get bogged down in weight loss, but as someone on here once said, weight loss is just a happy side effect! This is a bit unusual tho..i dont know if its a misprint but it suggests fasting 2-4 days every 6 months!)
"Fasting can be good for your health, experts claim.
A study found that fasting for two days or more can help to kick-start the immune system, especially if it has been damaged by ageing or cancer treatment.
It encourages the body to replace old and damaged cells, U.S. researchers said.
Valter Longo, a longevity expert at the University of Southern California, said: ‘When you starve, the system tries to save energy, and one of the things it can do to save energy is to recycle a lot of the immune cells that are not needed, especially those that may be damaged.’
His team found fasting for two to four days every six months forced the body into survival mode, using up stores of fat and sugar and breaking down old cells.
‘The body then sent a signal telling stem cells to regenerate and “rebuild the entire system”. "
That's put in a way that is easy to understand. However...should it read 6 days? Or 6 weeks? Surely weeks and months is too long a gap?
Hope you get some good shut-eye tonight. xx
@nursebean, he means months, but when he says fast, he mean a proper fast, not 500 calories. Did you see the original MM documentary? When MM did the 3-4 (?) fast, it was with Dr. Longo.

btw. I am in today, too. I just had a breakfast meeting with a colleague and was looking at my boiled egg a bit funny. Ha!
why is it that everyone and their frickin' brother is posting pictures of food on Facebook today? Ugh. it's going to be a tough one.
Well on my way home and bloody starving :-) haven't done a 500 cal fast in a long time (not that I'm doing that today), so not usually this hungry. lunch will be 4.45pm when I get home, hot n humid so swim, eat, walk my dogs, veg out :-) actually it is good to feel hungry, wet fish myself and keep going. I'll be doing it again tomorrow as I have a friend up for weekend to celebrate our birthdays belatedly, bottle of Taittinger in fridge, yum. she's in weight
Loss mode too so I'll make healthy food, maybe do a bush walk (to a pub by the ocean  ). Good luck all
I'm in today , second of three perhaps. Sunday was going so well until I made pecan sticky buns and they just wouldn't have been so good on Monday ( they weren't). so it was poached eggs and toast and buns...
No baking today , so, once again, aiming for nothing until tea time. then poached eggs on toast ONLY. Wet fish is on standby.
Did have a restrained day yesterday (not fasting), so just working on getting back into the whole groove. It'll balance out she hopes.
Good luck to everyone finishing, starting and waiting to start.
:clover:
Hello my Wonderful Wednesdayers!

I'm in for my second of 3 this week. Am very much going to focus on the fact that I am choosing to fast today. Free will and all that. Plus, keep focusing on the health benefits of what I am doing. Ooh, and taking things one day at a time....that will help.

Best of luck to you all xx
Hope that wet fish isn't a shark GMH!
Oh I see MaryAnn. Of course! I've never actually tried an all-day proper fast. Have you? This may be something I'll try...when the time is right. Right now I'm looking forward to 6 o'clock. Actually, I say that but I'm not in any way hungry at the moment.
Have a wicked Wednesday fast everyone. xx

no, I haven't, @nursebean. I don't really have a desire to, either. I'm not dealing so well these days with hunger. Even 500 cal days are hard.
