I know all you fellow forum posters are such inventive folk. I need some suggestions for fast and non fast day lunches/snacks. I have no access to fridge or microwave so inevitably end up with a sandwich. ATM I don't want to "waste"those calories on bread so any ideas?

Sometimes I have a salad of mixed grains/beans/lentils etc (you can use bulgur wheat, barley, anything) - cook up a batch in advance or empty a few tins into a tub and then add any fresh veg you want, feta cheese, ham, herbs etc. Top with hummous, salsa, chilli sauce, dollop of sour cream/yogurt etc and some salad leaves. Yum. You can change your additions each day and have less on fast day and more on normal days.
Just read that you don't have access to a fridge - this salad might be a bit sweaty just sat in a bag, but you can get little tiny cool bags that should keep your lunch cool til lunchtime.
Or soup in a flask.
