I have about 300 cookbooks. Including some lovely old fashioned paperbacks without the colour pics. Eg Claudia Roden's "Middle Eastern Food"

I also have the celebrity chef books like Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver

I should stop buying books as I often just use the net and search Google when I need a recipe I despite my collection. go figure.

But you know what they say about cookbooks. They offer a form of "food porn" as they stimulate the senses with words and pictures.

My latest fave celebrity chef is Nigel Slater and want his book from the Simple Food series.

I made this tonight probably in the book

We tend to browse the internet for recipes but we have really got our money's worth from the Hairy Dieters, we've just bought their new book Hairy Dieters Eat For Life and have only tried one recipe so far but know it's going to be another favourite!

I'd take Rachel's tiny kitchen, if it means I get to live in Paris! :-D

The BBC Good Food website is great when you've got some ingredients & you don't know what to do, other than tha:

Heston Bloomenthal at home (some great pointers & advice)
Raymond Blanc Kitchen Secrets
Rick Stein French Odessy
Floyd on France
Madhur Jaffrey Curry Easy (well easy!)

So, Mary Ann, would you like to meet me for lunch at the Moosewood next time you're on this side of the world?

Oh Annie - I forgot about Madhur Jaffrey! I have an ancient copy of her Indian Cooking, and then I got a new copy of her updated version. Brilliant books! I've been her to restaurant in NYC and really enjoyed that as well

My favourite topic (well, one of 'em  )

Rick Stein Far eastern odyssey
Sri Owen New wave Asian
Mrs Balbir Singh Indian cookery (about 40 years old, but much loved!)
Hairy Deiters (though I cannot stand them!)
Jack Santamaria Indian Vegetarian cookery (another oldie but goldie!!)
David Thompson
Yotam Ottolenghi (all!)

Plus, as I make chutney/chilli sauces for a living, all my preserving reference books, Larousse, and a ringbinder stuffed with my own recipes, ideas, work in progress (including some which say: 'do not make again'!)

#hungry now!

I love my older cook books too so many to mention. Find I don't have as much time to fit lavish recipes as I used too but that does account for the weight gain of course.

Yesterday decided to treat my DH to a classic chicken curry as I was doing a liquid fast, i turned to my lovely book 'Moghul Cooking' author Joyce Westrip. It's a trip back centuries. My notes on the side of the recipe from another day was tastes yum and a pleasure to cook. It was again even though I did not eat it and did not mind a jot.

Sallyo wrote: I love Delicious Magazine. I work my way through the recipes each month. They even have some suitable for fast days, or which can be tweeked. I am an addict for cookbooks but I always go back to Delicious.

I was browsing tonight through more food porn in the form of SBS Feast magazine. every single issues is chokka of colour, flavour, culture and the most "basic" recipes interspersed with more complex ones.
It beats Delicious hands down in my opinon.

Have you seen it Sally?

Since reading Fat Dog's progress on low carbing, I have found Paul Gayler, whose books are absolutely fabulous. Although I am a meat eater, I have made several veggie meals from his Pure Vegetarian book. However, Fat Dog's Linseed Crackers take some beating.. absolutely scrummy!

I love Cook books! Got a bookcase full of them; Delia, Jamie, Nigel Slater not forgetting Nigella or the wonderful Mary Berry (before Great British Bakeoff days)
I also love magazine recipes and have tons of torn out snippets in boxes under the bed!
Websites worth mentioning are some of the UK supermarkets Waitrose Tesco and Sainsburys, all of whom list seasonal recipes which are often economical to make.
For family meals, I plan weekly and have a 'guest publication' and use recipes from that book. It works quite well (on non fast days of course!)

Golly. Too many to think about here and the list changes depending on my mood. The ones I'm using the most at the moment are:

Yotam Ottolenghi - The Cookbook
Danielle Walker - Against All Grain
Maria Elia - Smashing Plates
Peter Gordon - Sugar Club - The Cookbook (In fact anything by Peter Gordon)
James Duigan - Clean and Lean Cookbook
Sarma Melngailis - Raw Food Real World
Hairy Dieters - Eat for Life

.....and also Mimi's 5:2 cookbook from time to time.
