Do you stick to 500 on your fasting days or do you aloud for a higher amount when doing ADF?

Nice one beanie. Here to cheer you all on. Might throw one in and join you for a day here and there! Got to be done.

Hi @loveswalking. As originally designed by Dr. Krista Varady, the "fast" days are 500 calories during the weight loss phase. I think, though, that if eating a little over that prevents you from overeating on non-fast days, or from giving up entirely, go for it! I'm pretty sure we've had successful weight losers here who didn't stick to 500 calorie fast days, even doing 5:2.
I'm not in on the ADF part of the challenge as it just doesn't suit my lifestyle. I admire and even sort of envy you ADFers! But I noticed the "skinny jeans" suggestion in the OP. That I am in on because just by chance today I tried a pair of jeans I'd bought when I was on 5:2 before and never quite got into. With some wiggling and breath holding I got them on and the button done up. No chance on the zipper though.
So I'll cheer you all on and keep an eye on the end of the challenge for another try at those jeans. Good luck all!

Ok here goes...
See you later in the year then @DrLCH? Good idea, I think I may have to choose a month that doesn't involve holidays!
So pleased @MaryAnn...and what did you say?
@loveswalking - we're not strict in the ADF/DODO tent. We try to stick to 500 cals but if we go over a little bit (and indeed we do...quite often) we don't worry too much about it!
Come on @Lizbean...you can do it!!
As for you @O'Dell I look forward to hearing that the zip is done up...on Tuesday 5 May!
So, anyone worrying about trying ADF...don't worry! We're not strict. You could jump in for just a week if you liked or have 600 calories on one of the fast days. But I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is and how soon you get into the routine!
Besides, nobody wants a Challenge that isnt...well, challenging!

@nursebean I have never joined a challenge and would like to see how it goes. I am maintaining and in the middle of my own lenten challenge and have lost about 2 of the 4 lb which I gained at/after Christmas but really want to lose another two pounds as a safety net, getting back to my pre-Christmas weight. I also imagine that Easter celebrations will undo some of my good lenten work (it always seems to take weeks to get off and only days to put on).
I have to be careful and really can't afford to put on any weight as my daughter is getting married at the beginnning of June and I have already bought the dress. So even if I don't manage to lose much weight, I mustn't gain any and I hope this challenge will keep me in check. I have done 4:3 before when I was in the losing phase so I know what I am letting myself in for.

Hello Bean! Could you be a dear & write a quick update/summary of your DODO challenge please!
I am giving it serious thought (needs must!)....but am all confused, so if you could just reiterate the details etc, I will consult my diary & see how I could work it....
Can you tell I'm warming to the idea?!!

Oh I like the sound of this @Hazlenut20. Look into my eyes, look into my eyes!!
So, basically, the Bean Challenge will start on Tuesday 7 April. This is our first fast day. Then you continue to fast every other day, as you would normally, eating whatever you like inbetween. So its like 4:3 but you have an extra day to fast! So the first week you will fast Tues, Thurs, Sat and then the following week you will fast: Mon, Wed, Fri and then the following week: Sun, Tues, Thurs, Sat...and it continues until the last fast day which will be on Tues 5 May.
Like the sound of it?
Go on...you knows you wants to xxxx

Thanks very much for that, @nursebean - very helpful.
If I've read my diary right, you are talking a total of 15 DODO fasts between April 7th and May 5th inclusive?
Having checked what's going on in my world over those 4 weeks...I can definitely commit to 13 DODO's, 1 firm B2B and another B2B (date TBA) - so, 15 fasts in all, but only 13 of them on the same days as the rest of you. The question is: will that do???!!

Hi Hazlenut...you are right! If you include the final Tuesday (which you don't really have to) it'll be 15 days. I would say that doing 13 days would be brilliant! Go for it!!
Am off on hols the final Tuesday of the challenge....well, to be precise, a 4 day break with some girlfriends that in the past has seen me gain a mindless 5lbs, ha ha.
Thanks for accepting me....I will do my very best on this one! Good luck all - I will look forward to following everyone's progress!
